Never fear, Design Yourself Interiors (DY-I) can help you to easily plan your entire baby nursery. DY-I offers kits that contain everything you need to plan the perfect space be it a living room, family room, dining room, bedroom or of course the nursery.

Here’s some basics on the nursery kit; Baby Spaces.

“Life size furniture templates that allow expecting parents to create their own safe, functional and attractive nursery with the accuracy of a professional interior designer. Baby Spaces provides the actual “footprints” for a crib, bassinet, changing table, chest and glider or rocking chair. The do-it-yourself affordable templates show exactly what pieces of furniture are needed before purchases are made — and precisely how they will fit in the new nursery space.”

High-end national interior designers Melody Davidson and Kathy Wagner are the gals behind DY-I, so the kits are professional in nature, but offer ease of use to us non-professional designers.

I love the idea of giving Baby Spaces as a baby shower gift; especially for an unorganized pal. Visit Design Yourself Interiors to see all the room kits.

My TV stand is actually a chest. It was my grandma’s chest, and I love it. It needs to be re-sanded and oiled, but it does well as a TV stand. Of course my TV is not that large so it sits well on this chest along with the DVD player. The best thing about my chest is that it does double duty. It’s packed full of boxes I want to keep; such as old baby clothing and a few other things.

Here are some pieces of furniture you can use as basic furniture pieces, and also use to store stuff in:

A chest – obviously! I love this chest below, it’s great because it’s not funky with locks and shiny hinges, it’s simple so if you did use it as a TV stand, it’s not obnoxious. That’s how mine is, but not quite this pretty. You can also use chests as bedroom, or entryway seating and still store items inside.

[Beautiful chest from Martin Davis Furniture Design - go visit, all the pieces are gorgeous]

A good ottoman with storage is the perfect living room solution. You can store CDs or DVD in long ottomans or kids toys in smaller ones. You can also use it for small items that look messy – magazines, remotes, and so on. Plus of course, you get to double use an ottoman to sit on or put your feet up. Here are two choices:

[Hess Ottoman from Houseworks]

Uno Storage Table/Ottoman – this awesome ottoman below does triple duty with storage, sitting, and table capacity. Very nice, and a sleek design to boot. Available at Jensen – Lewis.

Have you ever been sitting in a room of your house and all of a sudden, it hits you that it needs to be changed? That happened to me today, so my husband and I spent a few minutes rearranging our living room.

You see, we live in a pretty small house for a family of 5. We also both work out of our home, which we love, but space is definitely an issue for us. My husband has an office set up in the back of the house, but he doesn’t use it much because, well, it’s in the back of the house away from everyone. He goes back there when he needs to make phone calls.

My office is in the living room, which is where both of us usually work from. Yes, even with 3 kids and a dog running around. Our house is NEVER boring. The living room arrangement has been bothering me for awhile but I could never figure out what would work best, until today.

(Here’s a picture of my desk. It comes from Target and works well in a living area.)

My whole family approves of the new arrangement and so far, it seems to be working. If a room just doesn’t feel right to you, play around with it a bit. Move the furniture, think of some unconventional storage ideas and change it until it works and feels just right!

Never be afraid to change things up a bit. Oh, and I was going to take a picture of my new living room, but I have three kids home with the flu, so it’s a tad bit messy right now. I’ll post one later.

I want to eliminate as much paper from my life as possible and this baby would do it. Here’s my review of the HP TouchSmart PC.

The HP TouchSmart PC is the first all in one PC that has wireless capabilities, can help manage busy family schedules and entertain all within the same unit. Put this in your kitchen or living room and keep the whole family connected and organized.

Pros
•It’s functional, simple and easy to use.
•It has a large 19 inch touchscreen.
•It helps eliminate loose post-it notes and to-do lists.
•All in one pc style brings everything together in the same place.

Cons
•The price may be a little high for the average family.
•Black is the only color choice.
•There have been reports of the mouse and screen freezing up a bit.

This PC is something that the whole family can use and enjoy. You can check the weather, leave voice messages, burn dvds, host a video chat or check your schedule. It really is a machine that belongs in the hub of the home.

If you are a busy family and are constantly leaving to-do lists, post-it notes and messages everywhere, then this is something that could help you tremendously. You can keep everyone organized with the shared calendar and message center. No more dealing with little pieces of paper and cluttering up the refrigerator door with notes. Put this machine on the kitchen counter or small desk in the living room and you are set-up with one amazing system.

The features of this pc are endless. Keeping your family’s schedule organized is just the beginning. You can store, upload and print photos and use this as a photo center. After you burn your dvds, you can label the disk with the HP LightScribe program.

Teaching your kids to get organized has never been more fun. This is actually something they will use. Our kids are all about electronics. Teaching organizational skills with the HP TouchSmart PC has never been so easy.

This is by far one of the best family personal computer that I have ever seen or used. I truly see it as a small investement with huge rewards in the end.

Description:

•Comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
•It has a calendar and sticky notes feature for keeping the family organized.
•Acess tv, movies, radio and music with the touch of a remote or screen.
•It has options such as wifi, bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, stylus, and more.
•Comes with a remote control.
•Has a built-in webcam and microphone.
•You can get this all-in-one pc for around $1600.

I live in the Augusta, Georgia area and we woke up Sunday morning to the most refreshing temperatures. It was actually in the 70’s! We have had our doors open, letting that fresh air in ever since. I just hope it sticks around.

There are so many things that I love about fall: the food, the cooler weather, every one seems friendlier (why is that?), but probably my favorite thing about it is that I get to decorate with my most favorite colors: mustard yellow, burgandy, green and brown. I love those colors and you’ll found them throughout my home year round, but come fall, they’re everywhere.

Now I know this blog is not about decorating, it’s about organizing. But one thing I have learned is that if you don’t use organizing products that you love to look at and use, then you might as well not buy them at all. Also, there are some products you may think to use only for decorating, but you can use them for organizing items in your home too. You just have to use your imagination a little bit and think outside of the box.

So, my list this month is all about organizing products that have a touch, or a lot, of those fall colors in them. Adding just a few of these to your home will help create a functional, inviting and warm house for the fall.

The other day I did a post on the Monet Single Bike Folding Rack and I was saying how I needed one of those because my bike was stolen. Yes, I know, it was a sob story.

Well, today I have a product to show you from the same company that made that bike rack and this is a product I am really excited about. There are a number of reasons I am excited: it serves a purpose every person has, it looks great even when not in use, and it has a coupon code for Declutter It! readers.

The product I am talking about is the Bach Coat Hook (click on the link for a great picture gallery). Here are several pictures of the coat hook.

As you can see these are not your ordinary coat hooks. I am so impressed by the design and also by these innovative features:

*Unique curved shape will not stretch fabric or disfigure garments to cause the annoying ‘bubble bulge’ common with most coat hooks.

*Includes a customizable faceplate which can be colored to match any
interior.

*Modern design looks good even when not in use.

With fall just around the corner, we are all going to need a place for our coats. I am already scoping out a place for these coat hooks in my entry way.

So, without further ado….here are the coupon codes:

For $5 off any order of $29 or more, enter the code declutter5. For $10 off any order of $49 or more, enter the code declutter10. These coupons are valid off the purchase of any item on www.theartofstorage.com.

As soon as I get my hooks, I will give you a full review and take pictures of course. Oh how I love organizing products!

It just drives me crazy. Now that we are back in school, I have 3 backpacks and 3 lunchboxes to do something with. I also have my purse that needs a home.

I used to keep these things in our hall closet, but that has since been taken over by our board games and scrapbooking items. So all last week the backpacks and my purse were being put on the floor and it was just really bothering me.

I remembered we had an old armoire that I don’t really like, but it can temporarily serve the purpose I need it to right now. We moved it into our living room last night and it now houses all the backpacks, lunchboxes, purses, and cds and that’s just the top part. I haven’t even decided what to put on the bottom yet.

Althought this piece of furniture is supposed to be used for a tv, it works perfectly for another purpose. Now the kids know exactly where to put their backpacks and I have a permanent place for my purse.

Out living room looks less cluttered and I am one happy mommy. When you are faced with a clutter problem, think untraditional for a moment and scan your house for items that you are not using.
