Eating seasonal foods is all fun and games until January, when it seems like the only thing in season is onions and potatoes. To remind myself of what great food is still available – locally – this time of year, I recently bought a Local Foods Wheel and taped it to my fridge. The wheels are available for the San Francisco Bay Area, New York Metro area, and the Upper Midwest so far, and while they aren’t strictly vegetarian (mine lists cured meats as a seasonal treat), they are a helpful tool if you’re trying to stick to a meatless, local diet.
