Security Cameras Used To Catch Locker Room Thief--Is This Something You're OK With?

When a D.C.-area gym found itself plagued by a locker room thief, the manager decided to do something about it. According to NBC, Chris Kopp decided to fill one of the lockers with flour and put a flimsy lock on it–and sure enough, the thief got a face full of white powder. The thief escaped quickly, but his face was already on the security cameras, and he’d checked in at the front desk. Working out is supposed to be relaxing, but sometimes we leave the gym feeling more “aggro” than “zen.” When we’re working hard to hit our target heart rate zones, our threshold for dirty machines, grunting gym-goers, and smelly carpets is at a low point. Next time we join a gym, we’d like to see a few behavior guidelines in a gym etiquette appendix:

What am I, your mother? Wipe off that machine, you asshole. Okay, so we may have left one or two machines unwiped in our lifetime, but when the gym is packed and there are people lined up to take your spot, do us the courtesy of spraying down your sweaty weight bench with some disinfectant, please.
