Pregnant Women Break Dancing for Good Cause

Ok, seriously, are these pregnant women really rolling on their big bellies? I so want this to be real, though I suspect some of those moves may be dangerous for both mom and babe. Fake preggies or not, the most important thing is the message this Oxfam “Flashmom: Pregnant women break dancing in London” video is sending out.
“Fourteen hundred women around the world die every day in pregnancy and childbirth due to lack of basic health care.”
That’s right. Millions of women around the globe are still do not have access to the midwives, maternity wards and medicines they need for …read more

Britons Travel, Why Don’t We?

Here in the US we may be tightening our belts and opting for a staycation, but it’s not so elsewhere.  Research from Visit London and Visit Britain have found that convincing Brits of the value of a staycation has been a very tough sell.  Despite challenging economic times, UK residents will cut back in other areas of the budget in order to put a priority on vacation.

Jade Goody Laid to Rest

We’ll never know why certain things happen to people. We trust (at least I do) that there is a plan for it all, and that things happen for a reason. Sometimes when celebrities get saddled with disease it helps raise the issue for the rest of us. That certainly was the case for Jade Goody.

Jade was laid to rest today in England. She died March 22 at the very young age of 27 from cervical cancer. She was the subject of scrutiny and fascination for her often outrageous views. But in the last months …read more

Mind The Gap

I’m going to try to illustrate that there are times in every relationship, during which small gaps occur: gaps in expectations, gaps in promises, responsibilities, trust and perhaps a gap in adoration. It is also intended to demonstrate that sometimes we have to put our ambitions aside for the sake of our partners.
“Mind The Gap”, is also used on the London underground transit system, to remind riders to be cautious of the gap between the train and the platform. How prosaic, right?
Several years ago, my husband’s firm, a large New York based financial services corporation, offered him a temporary position …read more
