Healthy Alternatives to Lunchbox Chips

While trying to come up with different alternatives to peanut butter and jelly or balogna sandwiches this week, I started thinking about ways I could phase out my kids’ favorite “side dish” — chips!
For me, chips have always been the default go-to for sandwiches or lunch in general, but as the new school year approaches I’ve been trying to re-think and re-plan what goes into my kids’ lunch boxes. Sure, they’ll still get a small bag of chips now and then, but I’m going substitute one of the below ideas several times a week as well!

Please Help With My Kid’s Lunch Dilemma

I admit I’m not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. That said, I need some help here from you mothers who have a clue about some of this school-age kid stuff. What do I do about lunchboxes and lunches? Here’s the deal, Truman is buying his lunch at school. I paid enough into the plan that he should be set for most, if not all, of the first semester. Bento Boxes
My hubby left this morning. In his Pyrex portable, shown left, I have put instead the large bento box he brought me home from a Japan trip 5 years ago. Along with 6 colleagues, he’ll be out of town overnight for a project.
My hubby suffers from food allergies, just recently diagnosed. He can’t have wheat, eggs, or dairy. That means, unless they eat at a Japanese or Chinese restaurant on the road, he can’t have anything.
