I can’t really understand why kids need a whole new wardrobe for school. I mean, kids get clothes all year long these days right? It’s not like in my Grandma’s day when she saved up enough to buy her children two pairs of shoes a year, for school and Easter Sunday.

I went garage sailing and picked up about all she’ll need for about $12. I’m not about to blow a couple of hundred dollars for this consumerist tradition. I picked up a black  pair and brown pair of nearly-new Mary Janes and some super cute Sketchers for $2.50. The rest was spent on new-looking matching outfits, dresses, tops and jeans in her size.

If I have the cash on hand I may take her to Old Navy and let her pick one outfit for the first day.

Debt-Free School Clothes

Recently, I murmured to hubby, that I would love to see Eric Clapton — which is unusual, because I absolutely abhor arena concerts.

But, I love Eric — not as much as Madonna — but close (am I a nerd or what??).

So, for my recent birthday, hubby presents me with two prime tickets to see Eric Clapton — in Vegas! Wow, what a generous gift.

The vacation planning begins, hubby takes care of every little thing, even dinner reservations for all 3 nights.

Now I’m getting really psyched, and it doesn’t even matter that I have to endure a large concert hall…until..he chirps:

There’s a big NASCAR race in Vegas that weekend…the cars and the drivers will be on display all over the place.

Great.

So, how do I pack? Strappy glittering sandals or a Kyle Petty cap?

I’ll be back in a couple of days…whoot!
