Meat-lovin’ Mondays: DIY Tocino
Thanks to Mama Sita, another delicious find has made its way to my kitchen.
To my fellow overseas Pinoys, here’s a treat to keep the homesickness at bay. For the others, a breakfast/lunch/dinner suggestion, if you may.
While the marinade does its job,
why don’t you fry up some leftover rice and sunny-side up egg to complete your ToSiLog (Tocino-Sinangag-Itlog) ensemble!

Accolade for the marinade
In view of the nice weather last night, I was able to convince my husband to get cooking at the barbecue grill. As I took out the diced pork out of the fridge, I decided not to settle again for soy sauce and lemon juice as my marinade. I scavenged through my dependable compilation of recipes until I remembered the stash of Mama Sita’s my mother-in-law bought me months ago. If you’re Filipino, this ought to ring a bell, considering it’s pretty much a household name.

Mama Sita’s Palabok
I have been reminded by a very nice individual that not everyone who comes to this blog can, wants to or will cook from scratch. Said person suggested that perhaps I should feature “mixes” and “instant food” sometimes. Okay.
