It all started out with the old fashioned classifieds you’d see on newspapers then came personal ads on magazines. Two people would start corresponding through letters as “penpals”. Some may keep several penpals and others, one. Usually, when the relationship progresses, they’d eventually schedule a meet up or a visit to their respective homes.

Clubbing usually refers to a social gathering activity [usually at night] in nightclubs, pubs, or bars.
There you go, the parameters are set.
We can now look at the possible motivations of individuals that engage in such an activity. It ought to be about music, dancing, drinking, and socialising with friends. But, of course, since the gathering is a mix of both genders, another motivation has emerged — hook-up opportunities. Let’s focus on this particular motivation.
