Wow, what a week it has been, my friends. The weather here has been sunny and in the upper 60s/lower 70s (which Chopper loved), I found a ridiculously inexpensive and surprisingly potent scented oil while wandering aimlessly around Wal-Mart (mmm, Christmasy cinnamon), and I finally found the name of the song on one of the new Blackberry commercials (it’s “Live the Proof” by Jim Boggia, if anyone’s interested. In a series of videos on Johnson & Johnson’s Health Channel on YouTube, General Hospital star Maurice Benard speaks very openly about his bipolar disorder. Probably more openly than I’ve personally witnessed any celebrity speak about the more…severe mental illnesses.
Benard talks honestly about the extreme highs and extreme lows of bipolar disorder; how he reached out to his family for help; and even how he struggles with taking medication.
His wife also offers suggestions for people who are living with someone with a mental illness.
