In a press conference this afternoon, Mayor Michael Bloomberg released updates on New York City’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy, encouraging everyone to volunteer and contribute cash donations…and defending his choice to proceed with the New York City Marathon this Sunday. Citing the marathon’s fundraising abilities, he explained that New York Road Runners is asking all participants to donate an additional $26.20 on top of their registration fees, which they expect to total about $1 million to be used to help.
