A study on 161,808 postmenopausal women and multivitamins was carried out in Chicago. The study found that multivitamin did nothing to prevent cancer or heart disease.

A study on 161,808 postmenopausal women and multivitamins was carried out in Chicago. The study found that multivitamin did nothing to prevent cancer or heart disease.

The findings were that vitamin users and nonusers still had cancer and heart disease problems.

The researchers are not saying that the vitamins are not useful, but they should be used along with fresh fruits and vegetables. We all know that by eating fresh fruits and vegetables we are more likely to have the proper amount of vitamins in our daily diet.

In today’s world where so many people are losing their health care it is more important than ever to eat a healthy diet and to get daily exercise.

Women need to tell their health care providers the exact symptoms they are having and that they want to be tested for heart problems.

In a study conducted by the American Heart Association, researchers found that heart disease, heart attacks and strokes killed more women than men over the past 25 years, but fewer than one in 10 doctors knew that.

I had to convince her to let me toss the outdated medications, we also called the doctors and pharmacies to see if she was putting herself in harms way.

If you see more then one doctor you should always supply them with a complete list of your medications. The list needs to include vitamins as well as herbs, because they may react to other prescriptions, always use the same pharmacy.

When you are dealing with the elderly they usually have heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes. We need to check their medications often to see that they are not outdated or going to react to each other, this could be life threatening.

So what is the risk of a medication interaction? It all depends on how many medications you take. Two medications have a 5% potential of an adverse drug reaction, five medications have a 50% chance, and eight medications gives almost a 100% chance that something will go wrong. But who takes eight medications? As it turns out, plenty of people do; many of them are elderly and have a variety of medical illnesses.
It is like killing 2 birds with 1 stone, another favorite American saying. And one of my first thoughts was that there would be only 1 co-pay instead of 2. That is a bonus, huh? Ask your doctor about giving it a try if you are on both Norvasc and Lipitor. I will update you on my clinical experiences with Caduet as I see it in use more.

Thanks to more effective medicines and treatments, death among heart failure patients has halved over the last 6 years. Also, incidence of stroke and heart attack after discharge fell over the first half of this decade.

— The death rate for patients admitted with a severe heart attack, where the arteries are completely blocked, went down from 8.4 to 4.5 per cent.
– The risk of heart failure for severe heart attack patients also went down from 20 to 11 per cent.
– The death rate for patients admitted with a milder heart attack, where the arteries are only partially blocked, also went down from 2.9 to 2.0 per cent.
– This equates to 30 fewer deaths and 90 fewer patients with new heart failure per 1,000 hospital admissions.
– Critical heart failure or “cardiogenic shock”, which kills 70 per cent of patients who suffer severe heart attacks, went down from 7.1 to 4.7 per cent among these patients.

Bottom line… Hospitals are staying current and using newer medications and treatment guidelines. This largely contributed to the results of the study.

“This is a great example of why long-term investment in heart research is vital. The study shows that fewer people are dying, and fewer are developing debilitating heart failure thanks to research evidence prompting these hospitals to improve the way they treat people with heart disease.”

Me: Yes. Advil is ibuprofen. Tylenol is acetaminophen. Aleve is naproxen.

Matt: I found out! I have straight up ibuprofen in the kitchen cabinet and I even found a thingy of neosporin in the medicine chest! So I guess all is not lost.

Even robots need maintenance supplies, Matt! Please, I beg you. At least get yourself some bandaids to go with that Neosporin.
