Finding Quality Time
My husband and I have always been pretty strict about the kids’ bedtime. It changes and shifts as we need it to – during the school year it’s 8pm with reading until 8:30 and then lights out. During the summer it’s 8:30 with a 9pm lights out. We’ve found this works best for us because we know the kids are getting enough sleep (and not sleeping until noon), and it guarantees that we get some time alone in the evenings to unwind and spend time together.

My husband and I don’t get out very often without the kids. It’s an unfortunate situation but one I don’t normally mind. I enjoy being with my kids (most days; maybe not TODAY after I had to remove my oldest TWICE from my china cabinet, but most days) and I actually enjoy hanging out at home with just my laptop, my prime time television, and my husband if he’s home. Since he’s a musician, he is out more often than I am, but I deal with it.
