Nebraska to Revise Safe Haven
Back in September I wrote about Nebraska’s new Safe Haven law and how I thought the state was not going to be equipped to deal with the influx of children they were going to see.
As of yet, no children have been dropped off but I am wondering what will happen when they do…
is Nebraska’s foster care system ready for emotional and physical special needs children?
Did they recruit more foster parents with those skills and certifications?

Mooseheart, It Hits So Close to Home
The Mooseheart Red Ramblers have lost on and off the field. Mooseheart kids, at least around these parts…around my hometown…are known as the orphaned, penniless, neglected ones.
When I grew up I used to play them in Tri-City Soccer and they were rough and tough kids…the ones who fought dirty and who our team never wanted to play.
As we got older we heard stories of sexual abuse in the group homes (a former group leader was sentenced for molesting seven boys) and thought “oh, poor them” but never thought much more.
