My Kids on Mother’s Day

You know it wasn’t until these past few years that I really enjoyed Mother’s Day, I mean while sure I was a mom they kids never really got it. This year though, it meant a lot to me, here’s why.
First, I heard from SoccerBoy that they were getting me some Mother’s Day Gifts. Okay, this didn’t mean dad was going out and spending money on me but the kids themselves were and they were also making me things at school. To be honest I thought it would be painted handprints with poems. I was shocked this morning when my oldest …read more
Mother’s Day Flowers

Flowers are a universal favorite for Mother’s Day gifts. Most moms enjoy getting flowers in some form or another and they are easy for kids to buy. No remembering dress sizes. No worries about whether she can really learn how to use some gizmo.
This year, I received a Dianthus in an adorable polka dot pot. (I love Dianthus. Around here, they act as perennials.) I also received parsley and marigolds from my baby brother. Wasn’t that sweet of him?
I noticed a pretty yellow arrangement, roses and a nice potted begonia at friends’ houses, so I’m not the only one who …read more

More Fun With Teacup Pincushions

I shared a basic teacup pincushion yesterday – a perfect gift for Mother’s Day!
If you want to have a little more fun with your teacup pincushion, try some of these variations
I added some simple lace trim around the edge of the cup. I’d recommend hand sewing it in place, using small stitches and matching thread:
I’m a sucker for buttons, so why not add some buttons to the pincushion? You could also top it off with a yo-yo as well!
Ribbons and costume jewelry can be a fun and easy way to add a little zing to your pincushion. Hand …read more
Make a Diabetes Donation in Honor of Mom

If you’re looking for a great Mother’s Day gift, consider giving money to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The ADA offers several different types of giving initiatives, including honor gifts, stocks, and accessories. If your mom or someone close to her has diabetes, what better way to show them you care than by giving money toward a cure. It’s better than flowers! (But it’s always a good idea to get them anyway!)
If giving a gift in honor of your mom, don’t forget to write out your reasons for doing so in a card. When …read more

Tarte Cosmetics – Green Mother’s Day Gifts

In the last post I offered a review of Tarte Cosmetics, spring greening limited-edition reusable straw palette. I loved the set, and while we’re on the topic, thought it might be nice to highlight some eco-friendly Tarte products that would make nice Mother’s Day gifts (Mama’s day is soon ya’ll – May 10th).
I LOVE their lipglosses so first of all I’d suggest the purse your lips limited-edition super fruit lipgloss clutch – in fact, if you see my son, I think you should tip him off, because I would love this as a mama day gift. I don’t love the …read more
My Mother’s Day Gifts

We celebrated Mother’s Day here in Australia today. If you’re a mother, I hope you had a lovely day. My kids gave me some lovely gifts, shown in the photo, but the coolest gift was the Purple Passion Flip Note at the very front of the photo. My daughter told me she knew I’d like it, but she didn’t know just how much. It’s slim and so, so practical to stash in my bag. I hope you received some great gifts and spent some time with your kids, too.
