There are some items in health news that continually flip flop. Eggs are good for you. Then they are bad. Carbs are the enemy. Then… not so much.
Another flip flopping subject is vitamins. My doctors over the years have suggested that I take them, and after breaking my ankle one year I finally did. I drink milk, and try and eat healthy foods, but still, I take vitamins for that “extra protection.”

Vitamin Supplements Get Controversial

Well, kind of, anyway. Jul over at Veggie Chic shares that certain vitamins can actually have a negative effect on your health, according to recent findings reported by the BBC.
According to the article…
Millions worldwide use antioxidant supplements such as vitamins A and E, and beta-carotene.
Looking at dozens of previous studies, Copenhagen University researchers suggested these appeared to raise, not lower, the risk of early death.
A supplements industry expert said the Journal of the American Medical Association study was fatally flawed.
But nutritionists said it reinforced the need to eat a balanced diet, rather than relying on supplements.

Are You Taking a Daily Multivitamin?

I’ll go first: No. I have one, but I’m not taking it. Ever. I also have fish oil capsules for omega-3 fatty acids, which are supposed to help with my mood swings as well as making my hair all luxurious and whatnot, but I’m not taking that either. Nor am I taking my folic acid supplement, which is a must for all women of childbearing potential.
