Is this maybe one of the cutest little castles ever? I think so. Don’t think I’d live there. If I was ten years old maybe, but not now. Still, it’s pretty darn adorable. Mushroom Castle was built by David Lee in East Boothbay, Maine.
You can see many more castles at Castles of the United States.

This May the entire Lifestyles Channel is doing a month long theme event called “Three Doors Down.” The idea; sort of a meet & greet (and introduction) deal among blogs in our b5media channel.

I’ll be introducing you to one new blog a week here at Offbeat. Each of the blogs is one of my neighboring blogs – from three blogs down of course. Fittingly, I decided to give each of my neighbor blogs a house that’s appropriate for their blog.

This week, I’m kicking off the event with Psycho for Love. Not a blog I read normally, because frankly, to answer the question posed in my post title, I think it’s better to be psycho for houses, or any structure really, than love. Why? Well…

So not into stalker people – however stalking homes is a fun pastime activity.

We could flip the question as well. Even psycho homes themselves are better than psycho people. A psycho house will do no harm; a psycho person just might, in fact, they probably will. Even if you’re dealing in truly psycho homes; think Amityville, really what’s the house gonna do that I can’t solve with a match and some lighting fluid? I can take a house.

Me being overly amused with all things structural gives me a nice topic to discuss at parties and other events. The psycho for love individual cannot bring up their issues at a get-together, not if they don’t want to raise a few eyebrows.

Seriously, when have you ever seen a psycho home lover arrested for some MySpace crime? Oh, what’s that, you haven’t. That’s right, I’m practically 99.8% less likely to end up in jail than a psycho for love person.

Best answer: True; it’s so much better to be psycho for houses.

Disagree? Then you might like Psycho for Love , a blog blogged by Trench, a blogger I like actually (i.e. not psycho). Topics covered include things like:

Kung Fu Wedding

Snapped on Oxygen

What happens in Vegas stays in a dog cage..wait what?

I know; wrap your brain around this blog, right.

In any case I have a nice house in mind for Trench. I can’t remember if I’ve shown this house at Offbeat before or not, but I’ve been psycho for it, for a good long while. It’s one of the weirdest I’ve seen, plus a wee bit incognito, thus fitting.
I personally love the Mushroom House. Located in Whistler, Canada it was started way back in the 70s. Not only is the Mushroom House crazy offbeat but the whole home is centered around what the interior of a tree might look like. Zube, the artist behind this masterpiece did an exceptional job.

Back in the old-school Offbeat days Kevin Humphrey covered the The Mushroom House. However, for those of you who don’t spend your days combing the archives this home is worth a look.

I personally love the Mushroom House. Located in Whistler, Canada it was started way back in the 70s. Not only is the Mushroom House crazy offbeat but the whole home is centered around what the interior of a tree might look like. Zube, the artist behind this masterpiece did an exceptional job. Looking in you really feel like you’re living inside a tree.

It’s fairytale like qualities remind me of the Woodland Home for Elves and Gnomes.

Exterior (mushroom-like; hence the name):

This door leading to the balcony is amazing. Stained glass and cedar wood. According to the Mushroom House site, light plays off the stained glass onto the rocks, water, and the sky above when sunbeams spill in.

Check out the design of the kitchen cabinets:

My dream bedroom, with an incredible view, swirling green walls, and outstanding window shapes… so soothing.

The entire home is unbelievable. You can take a great tour at the Mushroom House website and see all the little touches that make this home exceptional.
