I have hardly any time to tell you why Marc rocks today…

My husband rocks because he does things that he knows mean alot to me.

For example..Last night we caught a raccoon in a live trap..we are overwhelmed with them here..and they get in our attic AND they steal eggs AND they snack on our chickens.  I prefer that we don;t shoot them becuase in Texas they seem to breed all year round.  Usually a mama raccoon will have her babies nearby so if she gets live trapped they are easy to find…not so much when she it killed.

Anyway…one was in the trap shortly after Marc set it last night and he had to work this morning..that means that the raccoon would be in the trap from 10 p.m. until well after noon today…and I can tell you I was NOT sticking my hand in there to give it water.  Marc, even though I know he was exhausted, drove it 20 minutes away to where our chuch is (on a wildlife preserve area..we have a COOL church) and let it go by the pond there.  It meant that he got home after 11 and had to be up at 5 a.m.

But he is a softie when it comes to animals and I was so blessed that he took the time to do that!

And THAT is why my husband ROCKS!

Another Friday and it is time for…My Husband Rocks!

One of the  ways that Marc rocks is in an area that I have seen alot of men totally NOT. ROCK.  Leadership.

It seems to me that when men hear the words authority and submission they either decide that they are to be addressed as “Your Majesty” OR they decide that it is all too overwhelming to figure out and become passive, allowing their wives to run the show…and carry all of the burdens.

Marc is so really gifted at loving leadership, taking the role of the servant in so many ways.  Many men that had to deal with the type of pain and issues that Marc does would be sitting in front of the t.v. or whining and complaining.  Marc doesn’t.   He has some days that are better than others…this has been a particularly tough wek for him pain-wise and his thoughts are a little foggy from the medications, but he always is looking for ways to make things easier for me, to serve me, to be a loving leader.

As he worked less and I worked more he took over the laundry, alot of the homeschooling, much of the supervision of the kids.  It has been hard because I feel that those are MY areas and I don’t feel that I am being the mom and wife I want to be.  This is where we are right now..

But Marc is always figuring out ways to do things…chainsawing the wood for winter sitting  down because he can’t stand and do it.. ignoring pain to work on repairs or whatever, going grocery shopping with me so we can have some time together…even though that means he will be on his feet on his crutches and it will hurt.

He has never told me what to do although he knows that if he makes a decision I will comply.  He has never taken advantage of that.  He has never gotten defensive when I have talked to him about Mr. Grumpy or other issues.

Marc rocks because he is everything a man should be, even in very difficult times.

Marc rocks because he can still make me melt with one look.  You would think that over a period of time it would get old, or boring….that the things that made me fall in love with him in the first place would fade…

After all…28 years…

Nope. Not at all.  The man is hot.  I am visual.  It is a combination that works for us!

If I mention that I like him in a certain article of clothing he makes an effort to wear it.  He definitely gives me plenty of eye candy…

I appreciate so many things about him. Conversation, intelligence, sense of humor, compassion…..

but this week, I just want you to know….

the man is hot.

My Husband ROCKS! Friday

Late again, but I told ya..I was at the VA all day!  Kay Lin is the hostess for this and you can see more about My Husband Rocks at her blog, The Great Adventure.

Marc rocks for so many reasons.  One thing that I really appreciate about him is that he lets me be me.

Now, this may surprise you but….I am kinda weird.  And sometimes rather…uh….straight forward.  Without much beating around the bush.  And some people consider me…hmm…tactless.

Today was a good example.  We were at our coffee date and I wanted to talk about some of the medical issues he is having and how it has affected his personality.  So I said, “I really love you but I am not in love with your alter ego. ”

And then I proceeded to explain all of the foibles of his “alter ego”..a man who he has not met but who the kids and I deal with regularly.

And he listened.  And he was o.k. with listening.

Have you realized that Marc, a very private person, has allowed the intimate details of our lives to be plastered all over this blog..and handled it with dignity and patience?  He is not defensive, he doesn’t have a problem apologizing, and he listens to me incessantly sometimes.

I love this man.

And that is why Marc Rocks…my world…

Marc is the best dad ever. He is patient with the kids, and since I have been working more he has stepped up and is doing school with them. It is the coolest thing in the universe to be sitting at my desk blogging away and hear him working with Chef Kyrie on her reading. (Baking Delights readers have met chef Kyrie, she is our youngest…and very very cute.)

He is so good about working with them, explaining what they are having trouble with..and not pulling his hair out… Check this out, Marc and Chef Kyrie having a reading lesson last week….

So that is one more reason why my husband rocks. Thanks for stopping by!

My Husband Rocks! Friday

Friday all ready?

This week has been so very busy, with settling in here and Daring Bakers Challenge on Baking Delights…and I have a cookbook that I just signed a contract on….there are the regular blog things… my other blogs…..trying to plan homeschool in a more organized manner so Marc can implement it more easily…cooking..cleaning…VA appointments…

WHEW!

Anyway, Katy Lin hosts My Husband Rocks every Friday. If you are a wife then this is a great way to focus on the positive aspects of your husband and your marriage. What we concentrate on tends to become our reality, you know?

Marc rocks because he has been committed to me, of all people, for 28+ years.  This amazes me every,  single day.

Every single one of those days he has loved me unconditionally even when I am unlovable.

Every single one of those days he has worked hard to allow me to stay home.  In 28 years I have never had to work.

He has been an integral part of our homeschool experience.

He has made an effort to care about those things I care about, whether or not they were something he was initially interested in.

And…he is so very…very….very…hot.

And that, my friends, is why my husband rocks.  Outloud. Everyday.

My Husband ROCKS! Friday

I have been wanting to participate in this for so long but none of my other blogs was quite right for it!

Katy Lin, from The Great Adventure has been doing a themed Friday for everyone to say why their husband rocks..so this week  I am in!

As you get to know Marc through his posts you will understand more and more why he rocks.

He is in extreme pain 24/7 and even the medication that he is taking often does not kick the pain.  He never complains and he always just does what needs to be done..which around here is ALOT.

We have alot of trees on our property and many have fallen in the last year from drought/flood combination (weird I know).  We use wood as much as possible to heat our house in the winter.

Marc has been cutting up the trees with the chain saw.  The other day I knew he was in alot of pain, but he still was cutting wood.  When I went outside there he was, sitting on an overturned bucket..chainsawing.

He just doesn’t stop.  When he lost his job and I started writing so much, instead of moping around he picked up the things that I no longer had time for, like laundry and homeschooling.  I could make a list that was a mile long and even if I did I would STILL have stuff I could write about next week.

He is THAT cool.

And that is why my husband rocks. Today.
