Big news in the world of baldiness this week. A teacher by the name of James Campbell lost his claim against the Falkirk School Council. He claims that his baldness caused him to not complete his duties of a high school teacher. It appears that his students were bullying him because he was bald.
Big news in the world of baldiness this week. A teacher by the name of James Campbell lost his claim against the Falkirk School Council. He claims that his baldness caused him to not complete his duties of a high school teacher. It appears that his students were bullying him because he was bald. They called him names such as “baldy”, and felt that his baldness showed a sign of weakness.

His baldness is not a sign of weakness – his lack of self respect is weak. He could have laughed it off, and had a bit of fun with it. And since when is “baldy” a bad name. At baldiness, “baldy” is a term of endearment – and one that I use with a lot of respect.

The judge who heard this case, dismissed it. Stating that if baldness is to be considered a disability, then shortness, and oversized nose and ears, would also be. And wouldn’t that be a farce.

Chime in on this debate. How do you feel?

Do you agree with me and the judge (and the school board), or do you think that Mr Campbell has reason to feel sorry for himself, because he lives without hair (and chose not to invest in a hairpiece).

Personally, I think it has all the makings of a broadway musical.

If you would like to read more, you can read a bit of a summary (there are some great comments too) at Short News.

The video for “Song of the Sad Assassin” is a great example, of this simplicity. There is no unnecessary fluff. Just “bare bones”(so to speak).

The Business Shrink raises a really interesting question to this scenario,

What lengths of hair are people willing to go to have a full head of hair again. Does the thought of having a corpses well groomed head of hair give anyone the creeps? The hair that would grow from your hair at any moment would have been groomed, cut and even colored by another person for 20, 30 or even more years. The compliment, “I love your new hair style” would come to mean greater and more bizarre things.

What do you think? If you were guaranteed a great head of hair – that once belonged to someone else, and was attached to your own head in this manner. Would you consider this type of surgery?

I would really like to know what you would do.

The groups have been particularly helpful to me. While there is plenty of whingy and ridiculous information out there, it is easy to weed through it, and find the gems. There is always someone who has an interesting story or perspective.

Facebook (and other sites like it) is an interesting phenomenon. You can instantly connet with someone knowledgeable or an old friend in a matter of minutes.

This is a really interesting interview with Dermatologist Morris Westfried MD, discussing treatments for children with Alopecia. It’s really great news that there are workable treatments available in this country. Although, I am not so sure that if I was a kid with Alopecia, that I would be able to sit still long enough for all of those steroid injections.
