Now that it is the first of June, my son is down to his last two weeks of being at the school he’s been at for the past two years. He starts Extended School Year in the middle of June; it’ll be at the middle school and with the teacher who’ll be Charlie’s teacher in the fall. Moving up and on.

It’s confirmed: Nate Tseglin, who was removed from his parents and institutionalized, is going home.

Autism rights have been much under discussion of late:

A restraining order was filed against the parents of Adam Race by a priest in Bertha, Minnesota, regarding Adam attending church.
The “voting out” of Alex Barton, from his kindergarten class; the teacher, Wendy Portillo, has been removed from the classroom.

Nate Tseglin Removed From His Home and Institutionalized: Why?

Should Child Protective Services of San Diego have removed 17-year-old Nate Tseglin from his parents, Ilya and Riva Tseglin, after a teacher reported seeing self-inflicted scratches on Nate’s body and complaining about the doctor-approved arm restraints that his parents used? Nate has been in the Fairview Developmental Center (formerly Fairview State Hospital) in Costa Mesa, OC Register writer Steven Greenhut noted in a February 17th column, and has been given medication and suffered seizures; his parents fear that he may have suffered more.
