Do you have a picture of the family member wearing the tie? Include it in the journal or scrapbook. (Remember, scrapbooks come in various sizes, from the mini to the larger more common ones.)

What have you done with neckties to create memory quilts?

In previous posts, I’ve mentioned using old neckties to make quilts, throws, and pillows. This is a great way to recycle these items. The resulting projects also may become “memory” pieces.
Cyndi Levin, of Layers Upon Layers mentioned this use of her husband’s ties:
I regularly add my husband’s old ties into my mixed paper and fabric quilts…it’s so much fun to revisit them long after their expiration date!
What an interesting way to use old neckties. What about including photos and mementos of the person who owned them? An interesting memory piece.
Do you have any unique uses for old neckties?

After writing Memory Quilts with Neckties, I received inquiries from Barbara and Patty with questions about making pillows and throws from neckties. I’ll post their queries below and hope some of you have some suggestions, even patterns.
Barbara asked:
I am interested in finding someone who could make 3 memory pillows out of neckties from my deceased husband. I have 2 teenaged sons and each of us would like a memory pillow.
Patty’s question:
I am looking for a person who would be interested in making a throw from neckties. My husband is retiring and I would like to have all his ties [...]
Post from: Blisstree

Barbara asked:

I am interested in finding someone who could make 3 memory pillows out of neckties from my deceased husband. I have 2 teenaged sons and each of us would like a memory pillow.

Patty’s question:

I am looking for a person who would be interested in making a throw from neckties. My husband is retiring and I would like to have all his ties made into a quilt/throw.

Also, there may be other quilters who would like to make these items for themselves from neckties as a way of preserving memories. So if you’ll share with us your experiences with necktie quilts, pillows, throws, etc., it would be appreciated.
