I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. (Since October!) Somehow this bookmark was pushed aside, and I forgot about it. The Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards are an annual event. Both professional photographers and non-professionals are highlighted each year. There are many categories covered by the professional and non-professionals. Of course, my two favorite categories are bridges and architecture.
Here’s a sample of the 2007 winners. There were some amazing photos offered this last October.
Professional Photographer of the Year: Architecture - David Bowman

Frank Relle – 3rd place – Buildings: New Orleans Nightscapes

Timothy Griffith – 2nd place – Interiors: ULUWATU

Here are some ideas about how to make your home more offbeat color worthy than with a simple bucket o’ white paint. Or at least how to shock your neighborhood association.
Granted, this below was an advertising campaign. Still, it does sort of make you shudder. It’s not boring though.

Here’s a second “Orange House” and although it’s full of colors that you’d think would be terrible together I’m strangely drawn to it. Maybe it’s how it was shot. I really like the photo composition.

Here’s a second “Orange House” and although it’s full of colors that you’d think would be terrible together I’m strangely drawn to it. Maybe it’s how it was shot. I really like the photo composition.

Purple anyone? This is a 19th century home in New Orleans but it actually reminds me of some of the homes you see in Humboldt — the Eureka area. So I like it.

Can’t decide which color is best — polka dots are always a safe bet. Hey! That was so Dr. Seuss. Good for me. Anyhow, this is a pretty cool half and half home. I wonder what the ‘normal’ side thinks. On another note, the blog / website this came from has some of the most charming Bishop’s Castle photography — it’s well worth a good long look. Some of the shots of the countryside are beautiful.

Now, no more white paint. Got it.
