So is anyone else joining me in the quest for gold? Okay there’s no gold but certainly it’s fun. I’ve been sticking only to the major events like track, gymnastics, swimming etc. Sorry but I don’t see myself going horseback riding or playing table tennis. I will however be going to mommy and me gymnastics tomorrow at 8:15 in the bloody awful morning. I have a feeling it will be more mommy running and less actual gymnastics but I will get a workout no doubt.

I did try an awesome recipe though yesterday that was chock full of healthy tomatoes and soooo delish. I am thoroughly in love with Jamie Oliver so I adapted this from one of his recipes. It’s a roasted tomato casserole and good lord it’s decadent. I substituted the pork sausage with a great chicken sausage I got from Trader Joe’s and used the olive oil sparingly. I served it with some toasted brown rice and it was incredibly flavorful and rich. Tomatoes have lycopene, which is such a great antioxidant. It was even better the next day, all the herbs had a chance to really get in there and meld together. Plus it was so easy to make, just through everything in a pan and then pop it in the over. The perfect quick meal.

So who else is SUPER excited about the Olympics that are starting in let’s see, one day and 22 hours from now? Whatever you might feel about the location of the Games and the politics, I hate to see that kind of thing extend to the athletes that have worked most of their lives for this moment. As a former gymnast I spent countless hours in a gym sweating, working through injuries with the idea that one day I might be there. Clearly that never happened but I still have a soft spot for the Olympics. I knew I had to be a gymnast after watching Mary Lou in my hometown in 1984. My son clearly shares my DNA as he constantly tries to do acrobatics that he has never even seen. I can not wait to see his reaction to the Olympic gymnastic coverage. I wonder if you can decide what your passion is at two?

Whenever I watch gymnastics it is impossible for me not to get up and move myself. I mean literally impossible. It got me to thinking, what if we had an Olympic style workout month. I plan to organize my activities around some of the main events. Like I can go swimming during the bulk of the swim events and then jog during track and field etc. What do you think? I would have to get a schedule of events but it would only be for the duration of the Games. Who’s in?

Has anyone seen those Bally’s ads with the Pussycat Dolls? Bally’s is now “training” the Pussycat Dolls so they can be all fit and tighten things up a bit…right because they were getting a little piggy before. I guess perhaps not as many men (or women) are wishing their girlfriend was as hot as them anymore. Which was totally a feminist anthem dontchaknow. It’s all about empowerment. Note the sarcasm.

So now this teaming is of course to promote the “Doll’s” new album and tour and bring more people into Bally’s. They would have had more luck with me if they had used maybe, I don’t know, athletes or something. Say maybe athletes that will be competing in that little contest they’re having in Beijing next month. I understand it’s about money and marketing, I get it. I just don’t understand what has shifted. Instead of trying to get lean and toned, the goal now needs to be so skinny I can see your hip bone(plus I can see your hip bone because your dressed like a ho). No offense intended. I’m sure they are very nice women and not actually prostitutes. I mean ho in the vernacular sense.

Maybe I’m putting too much into it and maybe it’s just because I think that song is pure evil and hate that Bally’s thinks that should be their summer anthem. What are your thoughts on it? Should I get my undergarments unwound and get a life? Of course the real question is, if you get a membership because of the ads are you required to wear full makeup and sweats with something like sassy written on your ass?

Stress affects all people differently. I have always wished I was one of those women that when she gets stress she drops a bunch of weight. No such luck here. It’s almost as if the as my stress level increases it wraps itself around my stomach and hold onto the chub for dear life. I did several rounds today…oh and some handstands. Nothing calms a tantruming 2 year old down like a handstand. He thinks it’s funny, I can find my center and calm down. All is well. I can practically feel the stress loosening its grip. Let my love handles go.

I’m really pleased with the results I saw from our 30 Day Shred challenge but it’s really just too difficult for me to find the time every day to do it. I only have “x” amount of time within which to work, run errands, clean etc. In order to consistently stay up with it I would have to let something go, such as sleep, which is just soooo not happening. Still I would really like to lose about 15 more pounds. See here’s the thing. We might possibly maybe sorta kinda be thinking about maybe having another child. Maybe. While I gained less than 20 pounds with my son, I don’t know that I would be so lucky this time. It was a combination of pure exhaustion, daily nausea and vomiting well into my 2nd trimester and the hottest summer in 20 years. However, even 20 more pounds on my current frame would be too much.

So I think the greatest hurdle to those last 15 pounds is my diet is so inconsistent. I couldn’t really tell you how many calories I consume in a day. Heck I can’t even tell you what I ate yesterday. I may go half a day and realize all I have had is coffee. I’m pretty sure this has slowed down my once speedy metabolism. Few things that I picked up over at the Biggest Loser website that I will be adding to my routine:

Having a large salad packed with fruit, veggies and protein for breakfast followed by a large glass of water.

Eating a banana and drinking a glass of water before I leave the house every time. This one is HUGE for me. I forget to eat and then I’m out and whatever I see I must have before my blood sugar plummets further.

“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.” Your largest meal should be the first one and you will have the energy to get through your day. I have been knowingly doing it all ass-backwards. When I think about it I am able to follow this but it’s not consistent. So for the next 30 days I will be keeping a journal of my snacks and meals so that I can keep track.

I would love to reach my weight loss goal within the next 2 months by doing it as healthily as possible. Oh and I start my new Yoga class on Monday. Does anyone have any other tips that might be easy and workable into my busy schedule?

So I am taking a chance and trying the yoga thing one more time. I’ll be doing it every Monday at a local place within walking distance.

So I am taking a chance and trying the yoga thing one more time. I’ll be doing it every Monday at a local place within walking distance. A friend goes there as well so that should be added motivation to stick with it. I sweat a lot when I do yoga, even if it’s not that horrible sadistic hot yoga I tried. So I picked up two Yogitoes Skidless yoga towels yesterday. I haven’t had a chance to actually use them yet but I will give you an update when I do.

I don’t need one more excuse to not go to this class. From everyone I heard from these are great and allow you to keep up with the poses without slipping and worrying about your mat getting dirty. Has anyone tried this? Tell me what you think please.

So the hubs and I have been contemplating getting a Nintendo Wii since last year. For Christmas we don’t buy each other gifts, we just choose one thing for the house or for ourselves to splurge on. It was a really tight race between a new digital video camera and a Wii. Capturing our son’s precious moments won out…blah, blah whatever. I mean haven’t you seen America’s Funniest Home Videos? How many toddlers kicking their fathers in the crotch do you need to see?
I’m trying not to regret the decision but the Wii has continued to call my name. So yeah [...]
Post from: Blisstree

So the hubs and I have been contemplating getting a Nintendo Wii since last year. For Christmas we don’t buy each other gifts, we just choose one thing for the house or for ourselves to splurge on. It was a really tight race between a new digital video camera and a Wii. Capturing our son’s precious moments won out…blah, blah whatever. I mean haven’t you seen America’s Funniest Home Videos? How many toddlers kicking their fathers in the crotch do you need to see?

I’m trying not to regret the decision but the Wii has continued to call my name. So yeah now the Wii Fit thing, umm really I think I must have it. In fact I might be willing to give up the aforementioned child in exchange for one. Am I being really silly? Yes most likely. I want to know how it works for you. Here is the place to weigh in. Thoughts and advice are welcome. Rants or raves?

During the summer I do quite a bit of walking. I try to get out and do something active at least every day with the kid. The problem I had was that I couldn’t walk for very long in my flip-flops without my feet hurting and there is no way in heck I’m putting socks on when it’s over 70° It’s just not going to happen. So when I saw Keen’s Venice sandal, I thought it would be a great alternative. I have not been disappointed yet. I have not been disappointed yet. I have hiked in these and I routinely get them wet at the beach and the park. We spent a grueling 12 hour day at an outdoor festival and man oh man did these do the job. They are breathable and provide great support. I wouldn’t suggest running in them but I have had to do some quick sprints with no problem. They are definitely the best active sandals I have ever tried. You can’t keep moving and burning calories when your feet hurt, now can you.
