Read Your Food Labels Carefully

I’m a label reader. I love to got to the grocery when I’m not in a hurry so I can check out the labels on foods before I buy. I have some favorite foods that I know what’s on the label, but whenever I try something new I like to see what’s in there.

If you just take the time to check out labels while your in the grocery store a couple times, you’ll get much faster at it on future trips. You’ll know where to look for the important stuff, and you’ll learn which brands you can trust.

Nutrition Labels: Helpful, or Just Plain Confusing?

According to recent reports, nutrition labels may be misleading consumers into underconsuming some key nutrients, particularly calcium.
A woman at risk for osteoporosis is told by her doctor to get 1,200-1,500 milligrams of calcium every day. But when she looks at the Nutrition Facts panel on a carton of yogurt or a jug of milk, she finds that calcium is only listed by “Percent Daily Value” (%DV).
How does she convert that to milligrams?
