This power project is kinda odd because this technology is about generating wind power from 1,000 ft in the air.
Most of us know that wind generators rely on a steady flow of wind which is why before purchasing any wind generators, people consult wind maps.

The helium-filled Magenn Air Rotor System (MARS) contains a turbine that spins around a horizontal axis and can produce 10 kilowatts of energy as it floats 1,000 feet above the earth while attached to a copper tether.

Now happens if that tether is suddenly cut by…. I dunno… a small plane perhaps or a helicopter? So that’s bye bye to your investment? What about the cable? I’m pretty sure it will slam the roofs of somebody’s house. Better get some good insurance for this.

However, on the brighter side, this could probably work on a farm or on a remote village somewhere but in a city? Forget about it.

This one is a solar powered mole and rodent repeller. Yup, they’re making solar powered ones as well.
The Solar Moler uses harmless sonic soundwaves to fool the rodent into believing that there is danger, causing them to flee the area of vibrations. The sound generated by the Solar Moler every 30 seconds will be sufficient to cover 7000 Square Feet.

So what happens at night when the sun is gone you might ask. Well, the Solar Molar stores energy to a rechargable battery which operates the unit at night. The batteries can run the unit for a full 48 hours should there be insufficient sun during those rainy days.

This costs about $5.00 Quite cheap won’t you agree?

Last August 23rd, Sony has informed the industry and the world about a prototype that they have been working on. This is a bio battery prototype and “bio battery” when defined actually means a device that can create energy through sugar (and all other carbohydrates).
What does it do? According to the company, the bio battery prototype can actually create electricity by using sugar. And this is just what the definition offers. To get the power, the device digests the enzymes.

However, they are promising that you can use their prototype by adding in a sugar solution to their unit. And when the gadget breaks down the enzymes of the solution, that’s when you’ll get that electricity you need. With regards to the amount of power their gadget can create, they disclosed, “The output of these test cells is sufficient to power music play back on a memory-type Walkman.”

Oh yes. There are such things as green weddings (honestly, I just learned about this today).
In San Francisco, a couple – Kristy Wang and Nik Kaestner – had their green wedding. And Kristy describes it by stating, “Every time we make decisions, we’re trying to decide what would be the least wasteful. We didn’t want it to be about consumption.”
So what happened was that Kristy’s gown was something that she could wear again when she goes to formal occasions or parties. Guests came in car pools using hybrid cars. The wedding banquet was held outdoors in a Japanese garden. The guests ate organic vegetables and fresh fish. The tablecloths were made at home and were later on converted into napkins.

It seems weird but it is the green way to do a wedding. And yeah, did I already mention that green weddings are currently making their way to become the “in” thing in the wedding industry? Well, now you know.

This new system is created and developed by General Compression. And what they have created so far is this device that packs in air which is compressed inside its chambers. When needed, the air is let out so as to create wind.

After all, Michael Marcus, the president of General Compression, talks about the problem with taking power from the wind: “The problem with wind is intermittency. It does not garner high prices from power purchasers because it is not schedulable… (but) you can get a higher price if it’s available on demand.”

How does this go about? Here’s what MSN says: “Its plan calls for sending highly compressed air down the tower and into underground storage, such as caves or depleted gas wells, or through pipelines. The pressurized air can be released when needed to power an electricity generator, even if wind is not spinning the turbine’s blades.”

Interesting, isn’t it?

But sure enough, people can be creative and resourceful. Some villages in the country have found ways so as to get their energy needs. Some people have already built their own mini-hydroelectric stations and people who have tried out such inventions have said that the electricity produced from it can be enough for the entire village.

Some people have been able to create a mini-hydroelectric station and Ustokadam Saodatkadamov is one of those. He has been able to build one using used car parts he found. It is not currently used to power 30 homes in his area.

Such a plan is backed up by Michael Richardson, the country’s Shadow Environment Minister.

Both Debnam and Richardson are also saying that so as to see this into reality, they are offering people $1000 worth in rebate so that they could install such systems in homes of those who are interested.

Debnam prevails, “We need to think globally and act locally when it comes to tackling climate change in NSW.” And with confidence, he adds, “If elected Premier, I will immediately take action to begin addressing climate change in NSW, starting with the family home.”

He does have a real good point which he further emphasizes by saying, “Electric water heating is the single largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions in the average home. I want to help families to make the switch to solar hot water so they can save energy, save money and reduce their impact on the planet.”

One example is the situation in Unterhaching in Germany. You see, starting this May, the homes in that area would be receiving hot water which is taken from pipes buried 11,000 feet. This is part of the community’s shift towards using geothermal power in the hopes that they would be able to have projects to get into the country some $8.5 billion worth of investments in ten years.

I thought I knew a lot about our planet but little did I know that there are lots of things one can get from the Earth.

Christian Schoenwiesner-Bozkurt is the manager of that community project and he shares, “All experts told us this was not possible.” However, it seems like they would be showing these experts that they are wrong.

With emission controls becoming stricter all around the globe along with the high price of fuel costs, people are certainly looking for alternative sources of energy and power. And with geothermal power ready for use, it is very much likely that people may turn to this as a source of energy.

And what else do trees do? Well, these solar trees also do provide people shelter from both the rain and from the harsh rays of the sun. This is because the trees have been created to give shade. And while they are at that, they are also collecting the much needed power for Google.

You can find these solar trees along Google’s parking lot. Nice, huh?

This one can be found in the Land Down Under. The prime minister further says that such a move has actually been done so as to show that people can battle greenhouse gas emissions.

Sure, the whole project is going to take a huge chuck out of the federal government’s budget. In fact, this first solar city is going to be built as part of a project that costs $15 million. Howard does say, “Solar power is part of the solution to the problem of challenging and responding to greenhouse gas emissions. It’s not the only solution but its part of the solution.”
