Vote in the nonsense Offbeat Homes poll

Clearly a poll at Offbeat Homes does almost no good.
Why:
I don’t control what people build. Offbeat homes are not an everyday find. The majority of architects in the world build still nice, but average structures.
How I find offbeat structures is random and based mostly on luck.
That said, if you vote in the poll, I may be able to do something about it. I say give it a whirl, and we’ll see. Also, I set it up so that you can post an answer, this way if I left something great off, you can let me know. If you’d like …read more

I’ll be moving to a new house over the next couple of days. Offbeat readers don’t usually ask too many questions, but if you happen to break that mold over the weekend, and I fail to respond, it’s not because I’m ignoring you, I’m just stuck moving. Trust me, I’d rather hang here (moving bites).
My Internet service should be up and running at my new place by the 2nd or 3rd, so I’ll be back then. Hope you all have a wonderful start of September.

If you’ve been reading Offbeat Homes for any decent amount of time, you’ll note that I have many favorite architect and design blogs. I tend to talk about and link to my faves pretty incessantly. One such blog is Inhabitat. I’ve been a huge fan of Inhabitat for a long time, and I know some of you are as well.
Well the news is that they’ve just launched a brand new blog! and there’s more…

Ok folks, update. I found out why I can’t leave comments and found out that it’s also happening to another blogger I know. Akismet for some bizarre reason, has decided I’m spam; no matter what blog I’m at. I sent them an email, and hopefully it’ll be fixed soon, and my comments should be appearing now, at least at this blog.

We’ve hit the last month in the year celebration – yahoo. Here are my four favorite posts from Offbeat May 2008… Hmmm, it seems like we were just at May
The Powerlight Office Space – I love this space. Also I rarely blog about offices, so this was a good break.
I’d like to live, under the sea… – Senosiain Arquitectos creates some of the most unique work I’ve ever seen.
Offbeat Play Structures for Your Unique Child – I love cool kid play structures.
My New Favorite Real Estate Website! – I’ve been spending a lot of time here, so I …read more

Continuing on with our year celebration here are my four favorite posts from Offbeat April 2008…
Antonino Cardillo’s Vaulted House – I pretty much adore everything Cardillo creates. The colors, the lines, the minimal factor.
Outstanding Offbeat Organic Beauty – the Work of Robert Harvey Oshatz – His work is so amazing.
Arte Luise Kunsthotel – This hotel may be one of the best in the world. I love the whole idea of themes by artists.
The Most Stylish Blogger Spaces In the World! – So far, a theme day post hasn’t made the top four in any of the months this year. However, …read more

Continuing on with our year celebration here are my four favorite posts from Offbeat March 2008…
I double dare someone to build an entire house out of these… – I really like shaped and nicely designed bricks and other building materials. If you’ve got kooky building supplies, you might not even need a weird home design to pull off an offbeat home.
Classic Offbeat Homes: Favorite Posts of Spammers – I more like this post because someone emailed me later and had some ideas about why “Eating the Biscuit City” was so popular with spammers. Um, the ideas are not …read more
Best Offbeat Reader Comments of the Year

Offbeat is an odd blog. As page views go up comments go down. How’s that work? I’ve literally never seen a blog of mine act like this – or I should say blog readers of mine. I write plenty of blogs and traffic and comments are always correlated. Except here. Can I explain it? Not really. Do I mind this lack of comments? Again, not really. While I enjoy comments, a lack of them gives me a break from moderating. I’m good either way. It is what it is.
That said, when Offbeat readers leave comments they’re usually fun, nice, and …read more

Sorry to be absent yesterday. I told Cedar I’d take him to see Kung Fu Panda – which was totally fun by the way. Jack Black is just as funny as a cartoon, as he is when he’s a real person. Then Cedar wanted to continue the movie madness at home with Chicken Little. When did my life turn into one long-playing cartoon?
In any case, we’ll wrap up this year anniversary celebration tomorrow and then I have something very cool planned for next week. First though let’s round out the year; here are my four favorite posts from Offbeat February …read more
