Alright, I plan on participating in OrgJunkie’s Menu Plan Monday every week and I am really excited about it! I just received my MealPlanner 101 in the mail, so be looking for a review of it very soon. I can’t wait to tell you about it.

Now, my schedule is crazy so planning a menu was kind of hard. That’s been my problem – no time to cook in between everything, but I am doing whatever it takes to make this happen. This will take a lot of commitment, planning and organization.

Here’s a break down of my weekly schedule so you know what I’m talking about:

Mondays are gymnastics from 4 to 7. I am usually only there from 6 to 7 so that gives me some time to cook a meal. I have to reheat whatever we have for dinner for my 8 year old, but he doesn’t mind. He loves gymnastics!

Tuesdays are gymnastics from 5 to 6 and then small group from 6:45 to 8:15 pm. No cooking is happening this night.

Wednesdays are gymnastics from 4 to 7. Are you seeing a theme here?

Thursdays are….drum roll please…NOTHING! Wahoo!

Fridays are acting class for my daughter from 6:30 to 8 pm. We eat before class.

Saturdays – you just never know.

Sundays – church at 10:30 am and again at 4:30 to 6:30 pm

And here’s my menu plan for the week:

Monday: Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, cut up fruit

Tuesday: Eat out night – I think we’ll do Subway.

Wednesday: Spaghetti and meat sauce, crescent rolls, fresh steamed green beans and fruit

Thursday: Marinated pork chops (I’ll marinate them Wednesday night and all day Thursday. Yum Yum.), corn, wheat rolls and fruit

Friday: Date Night!

Saturday: Baked Salmon with butter and garlic (I got this recipe from MealPlanner 101. It sounds so yummy!), steamed mixed veggies, fruit and rolls

Sunday: Lunch: Soup and salad; Dinner: Quesadillas, mexican rice and veggie sticks

There you go! I did it and it feels SO unbelievably good to know exactly what my family is eating this week. It’s been awhile since I have planned out a menu.

Be sure and come join everyone over at Menu Plan Monday and share your weekly menu!

Well, for this Supper Saturday I wanted to encourage you to stop by her Menu Plan Monday and participate. When I look back at the times that my meals were all planned out, not only did my bank account thank me, but my whole family just ate better. I have to stop using the excuse that plagues my brain of “I’m just SO busy”, to stop me from menu planning. Yes, I am way busier than I was, let’s say 2 years ago, but busy is not an excuse for me personally to not plan out my meals better.

So, next Monday I’ll be participating in her Menu Plan Monday and I hope you will too! See you there.

I would like to start highlighting and interviewing professional organizers from around the country on Declutter It! I used to be one myself and the profession has really taken off. I had to stop my business because of time constraints and I just needed to be more available to my family. After having to cancel on clients way too many times because of a sick child or a school function I really wanted/needed to attend, I knew that this was not the time in my life to run a busy business.

So, that’s why I brought my business online in a sense and write articles and tips to hopefully help you get more organized.

Sometimes though, an article or a tip just isn’t going to cut it. Sometimes you need to call in a prefessional who knows exactly how to guide you sensitively through the process.

The first professional organizer I am going to talk about today is Cindy Culpovich from Salem, Oregon. Why? Well I woke up this morning and found this news story about her.

I loved several of the quotes from the article. Here are a few of my favorites:

“‘She’s directive and keeps you focused,’ said Scanlan, who is a physician at Salem Hospital. ‘You get a lot more done working with somebody than by yourself.’”

“Another success story comes from a 72-year-old woman Culpovich met after her presentation to a community group.

The client asked Culpovich to help her organize her medical bills and receipts. The woman’s medical insurance company would reimburse her if she could show any records of her medical expenses. With Culpovich’s help, the woman was able to find $6,000 worth of receipts, for which she was reimbursed within two weeks.”

“With all those skills and tools, Culpovich must have the cleanest house in West Salem, right? Nah.

‘I’m not a perfectionist; my house is organized but lived in,’ Culpovich said.”

Cindy’s business is Organize Your Space and you can find out more about her and her business at her website: http://www.organizingyourspace.com/

You can read the rest of the article here.

Doesn’t that sound nice? Cruising through the holidays? I am a HUGE advocate of a non-stressful holiday. I probably do less decorating than a lot of people, I buy my gifts online and the last few Christmases we have gone to someone’s house for lunch, so I only had to cook/bake a couple of items. Now, I do get into the baking quite a bit. I love baking holiday desserts!

But what if you do like to go all out? Is there anything wrong with that? Of course not! As long as YOU still get to enjoy the holiday as much as everyone else and as long as you don’t stress out the rest of your family.

My Christmas this year is kind of easy in a way. Except for the incredibly long drive we are making to Colorado. That’s going to be a doosey, but we like to travel and our kids always get excited. Since we won’t be here for about a week and a half, I am doing very minimal decorating and baking. My biggest task before me will be packing and planning the trip. We’ll figure out all the food when we get there and considering we are spending it with my husband’s sister, 2 brothers and dad, I think we’ll have plenty of available and capable cooks!

So how do we cruise through the holidays? Here are a few articles and websites to help you get the most out of this holiday season by being organized:

This is long over-due, but awhile back Priscilla Palmer let me know that she had included me in her Personal Development list. That is such an honor and to be included with the other blogs on this list just blew me away. Thank you so much Priscilla for putting this list together in the first place and for including me in it. You have done a great service to the blogging world!

Here’s a little snippet from Priscilla’s post:

I would find such a list incredibly useful, and I think that others interested in personal development would feel the same way. Of course, I can’t just let an idea like that float around in my head. I have to try it.

Personal development is a large topic that includes but is not limited to (law of attraction, goals, time management, physical fitness, education, motivation, inspiration, and social skills). This list should include any blog you feel can benefit us in our growth process.

Below I have started a list of my favorite blogs/bloggers, and I have tagged each of them to add to it on their own blogs. I would like to take this list just one step further, and ask that once you have added to the list you let me know. That way I can update my list to include all of your wonderful additions.

I’ve been tagged by Ariane from over at Neat & Simple Living. I am supposed to share 5 of my favorite sites that I use most often for my work. Thanks Ariane! Here you go:

1. The Container Store - I am always checking this site for new products, product designs and also organizing tips. They send me great emails a few times a month and I always read them so that I can stay on top of the latest products, ideas and sales.

2. Stacks & Stacks – This is another place that I look at for products. I try to stay on top of every organizing product out there. I want to know what’s avaliable and have an idea of several different items that I think might work for a certain problem.

3. Get Organized Now - This was the very first organizing site I ever visited. It was this site and it’s community on the forums that helped me get my organizing business off the ground. Without the support and knowledge of those wonderful people, I would not have been as confident. I still visit the forums and read Maria’s blog. Her site is a wealth of information.

4. Amazon - I not only visit Amazon every day for their products but also reviews, new product releases and great sales. If I haven’t personally tried a product myself, I like to make sure it has some good backing from other people. I also like to try and help people save money. Amazon has some great sales, rebates and of course their super saver shipping.

5. My Blogroll – Okay, so I’m cheating a little. The blogs that are on my blog roll are there for a reason and it’s because they are good quality blogs that I know my readers will enjoy, but they are also blogs that I myself read. I learn something new every time I run through my blog roll. I will also sometimes gain a new insight to life that I never thought of. Also, every once and awhile I will snag and write down a terrific quote. If you’re on my blog roll, that means you’re awesome and I find your blog a HUGE resource!

So there are my five, er, 15 or so favorite sites. It has always been hard for me to follow rules. I guess I’m not being a very good example to the next 5 people I am about to tag. May they do better than me.

When it comes to how we design, decorate or organize our “places” sometimes we give too much credence to things that don’t deserve it. Perhaps sometimes in parting, we will actually add clarity to what is important and truly necessary… and then we can think clearly about what is needed to carry on.
Simply put… maybe keeping all of Grandpa’s books is not as important as keeping the two that he actually read to you.

I asked Jon if he could turn that last statement into a refrigerator magnet or something. I just love it. If you haven’t been to his blog, you must visit it. He has some very amazing insights.
