As you know, a few days ago I hosted another Pink Product Giveaway — this time for either of the OtterBox Strength Cases (one for the iPhone and one for the iPod Nano).
This morning, I awoke, walked my dog, and was anxious to select the two winners from the 69 entries I received — randomly using random.org — and I haven’t even had my coffee yet.
Just a recap … there were two rules to the contest:

As you know, a few days ago I hosted another Pink Product Giveaway — this time for either of the OtterBox Strength Cases (one for the iPhone and one for the iPod Nano).

This morning, I awoke, walked my dog, and was anxious to select the two winners from the 69 entries I received — randomly using random.org — and I haven’t even had my coffee yet.

Just a recap … there were two rules to the contest:

Leave a comment on this post completing this sentence: “Strength is … ” Here’s an example: Strength is waking up the morning after your chemotherapy treatment and making your kid a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for their school lunch.

Include which case you’re hoping for (obviously if you don’t have an iPhone or iPod Nano you’ll be disappointed later if that’s the one I select for you so let’s be clear from the get-go). It’s okay to say either one!

With that in mind, my first randomly selected winners were comment #42 and #47.

<img src="http://www.blisstree.com/files/638/2008/07/picture-1.png" alt="Picture 1.png" border="1" width="483" height="239" style=top; border: solid 1px; margin: 8px 8px 8px 8px; '/>

Comment #42 was Bes … who didn’t follow the rules and simply wrote ‘Strength comes from within.’ To clarify, didn’t specify which product she’d like to win, rule #2. I’m so sorry Bes … but I have to stick to my guns; I’d clearly said at the bottom of the post “Only qualifying entries will be considered”. You have to follow the rules to win.

Moving on … comment #47 was from Samantha Pruitt:

Strength is being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, even through horrible situations. And i’d love the nano case, for my new nano, i’m afraid to take it anywhere, they’re so slippery! Thanks for the giveaway!

Samantha Pruitt has won herself the iPod Nano case.

So I head back over to random.org again to try again, and this time I pull up #63 and #12.

<img src="http://www.blisstree.com/files/638/2008/07/picture-21.png" alt="Picture 2.png" border="1" width="553" height="249" style=top; border: solid 1px; margin: 8px 8px 8px 8px; '/>

But wait, I thought nervously, I already have one winner, I don’t need two, what will I do? See what happens when I start blogging without caffeine? Nervously I checked #63 … Donna Kozar explained ‘Strength if my faith’ but didn’t follow the rules and give me her giveaway preference. I’m sorry Donna … that darn rule #2.

Moving on … comment #12 … from Kristen King:

Strength is getting out of bed every morning and doing what you have to do even though you don’t want to do anything at all. I would like the iPhone cover if I win.

Ain’t that the truth! Kristen has won herself the iPhone case.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for participating in yet another fun giveaway. I’ve got loads more … stay tuned … and thank you for reading The Pink Ribbon Review.

According to Merriam-Webster, strength is:

The quality or state of being strong : capacity for exertion or endurance

Power to resist force : solidity, toughness

Power of resisting attack : impregnability

How fitting that OtterBox’s new line of pink cases to support the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is named “Strength”.

My source at OtterBox explained this to me recently:

“Specializing in protective cases for technology and valuables, OtterBox now offers limited edition pink “Strength” cases for the iPhone and nano 3rd generation (coming soon for 3G iPhone). With an online order of an OtterBox “Strength” case, 10% of the purchase price will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to support access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved.”

Here’s some fun for you … I received two cases to review and giveaway to two lucky Pink Ribbon Readers: one from their iPhone Defender series and another from their iPod Nano 3rd Generation Defender series.

Why do you need these?

Well, if you have an iPhone (if you plan on getting one on Friday when the new one is released — twice as fast, half the price — you’ll have to wait for a new case), you must know — it’s a slippery little bugger.

If you have an iPod Nano, you know there’s no protection as it sits without a case — and if you like to tote it along with you to the gym, the beach, camping, wherever … you might want to keep it safe from harm.

Straight away I want to tell you, the boxes had me jazzed … a special label is adhered to each, with a full product description, stamped with a “Help Fight Breast Cancer” badge, an obvious reference to the specific charity they support and information about the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade as well.

Now, for the products themselves:

The cases themselves aren’t intrinsically easy to open. However, once you pull out the directions, you’ll be able to figure it out and feel confident that they won’t fall apart, either.

On the iPhone, the button pass-through is great — it’s not any harder to push any of the buttons and actually, feels easier, for whatever reason — maybe it is psychological.

The iPhone’s built in speaker passes through the cover easily — so there’s no barrier to use there.

The iPhone model comes with a beltclip that is very similar to the clip that comes with a Blackberry — so if you’re used to that, it’ll feel very comfortable for you.

The headphone and dock connectors are accessible, however, you’ll have to remove this from the case in order to plug it into a sound/speaker dock.

The silicone makes each product just a little bit bulkier in your hand, but it feels more secure and you don’t get the feeling that either unit is going to slip out of your hands.

The cases fits very snug — so they’re not as easy to fit in your pocket but it is definitely protective.

The iPhone case retails for $50 and the iPod Nano case is $30 — but one can be yours if you follow these very specific instructions! (Of course, you can always order one online here — they’re worth the price.)

This contest ends at midnight on Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 (EST). Only qualifying entries will be considered and winners will be pulled at random the next day and posted asap. Only participants in the US are eligible (sorry my foreign friends, I can’t spend a fortune on shipping).

Good luck!
