Wearing or carrying your patchwork often serves, unintentionally, as an advertisement for your work…and may lead to unimagined opportunities.  This happened to Josephine (Mrs. William) McKinley, as related at From the Scrapbook on Will McKinley’s “previously owned” blog.

Carrying a quilted patchwork pocketbook to a lecture at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library changed the whole course of Mrs. William McKinley’s life.

Carry Your Patchwork With You

I mentioned Emily’s tote in a previous post, Create a Patchwork Tote Bag.  Today I came across Chloe’s post, Eco-friendly Fabric Totebags, at Tangled Thread.  For Blog Action Day, Chloe called her readers’ attention to this easy-to-make nine-patch tote bag with a free pattern from JoAnn’s.  (See Chloe’s blog for this at the above link.)

This brought back memories of tote bags I used to make because they were a variation of the nine-patch.

Tote Bags, Tote Bags & More Patchwork Tote Bags

When I had my quilting business, I often made tote bags for customers and pictured them in my brochure.  My daughter made some fun ones for me, her daughter and herself from denium.  They can be attractive and easy (like Emily’s) or more complex.  But either way, they’re fun to make, to give as gifts, and to produce for sale.
