We learned a few things from last night’s vice presidential debate: Joe Biden has some crazy nice white teeth; Paul Ryan is capable of throwing some real in-your-face zingers (not to mention he’s still sexy as hell); and both of them have credible arguments for their abortion stance. But, we have to give it to Biden on that one–when asked about abortion and women’s rights, he totally nailed it. More

Paul Ryan may not have mentioned women’s reproductive rights or birth control access during the Republican National Convention, but that doesn’t mean it’s not still a priority with him. At a campaign event on Saturday in Orlando, the republican vice presidential candidate said he “guarantees” that mandating access to contraceptives through insurance would be gone on “day one.” More
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan has broken the strict creed that we runners abide by: he has lied about his marathon time. Runners. Just. Don’t. Do. That. And now he’s been caught in this lie, and it might just destroy his run (pun intended) for the White House. More
Right or wrong, women’s reproductive rights are a major issue in this year’s presidential race. Now, more than ever before, it’s important that every woman takes the time to fully understand what Mitt Romney and President Obama really stand for–not just what media rhetoric or public smear campaigns want you to believe. A lot has certainly been written about women’s reproductive rights, including specifically, abortion, so we’ve tried to clear through the clutter to give you an accurate overview of what Obama and Romney really say about this–because you can’t always believe what you hear elsewhere. Newly-anointed Mitt Romney running-mate Paul Ryan has made his name as a fiscal conservative with a strong vision for Medicare and Social Security. But he’s no slouch in hardcore conservative social ideology, either–as folks have been quick to point out. That his social agenda is highly at odds with his Hayek-and-Rand-tinted small government outlook for money matters seems to surprise some people, but .. eh. That’s just the rhetoric of the Republican party in the 21st century: Hands out of my health care and onto your uterus. What was anyone expecting? Of course, as a women’s health blog, it seems only right that we cover some of the potential vice president of America’s views regarding matters of women’s health. I was all set to right a straight-forward sort of post when a friend directed me to this attempt to apply the Feminist Ryan Gosling meme to Paul Ryan. So hey (girl): What better way to discuss Ryan’s views on women’s health than to badly co-opt this badly co-opted meme? More
No matter how you feel about Mitt Romney‘s choice of a running mate, Paul Ryan, and his take on the federal budget (including major cuts to Medicare and Medicaid), nobody can deny that he is one fit politician whose P90X workouts and low body fat make him one of the healthiest role models from Washington that we’ve seen yet.
