Obama’s Five Guys

Visiting Washington, DC earlier this month, I couldn’t resist trying out Five Guys, the burger joint Obama visited on camera in May of this year. I knew the burgers had to be special somehow if Obama so publicly blessed them. I visited the Five Guys in Dupont Circle, and the service was wonderful.
What I found is that the burgers are good, but the fries are even better! Five Guys is a big chain with around 400 locations. The first Five Guys opened in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia. Sadly, I don’t live near one.

Are School Peanut-Free Zones Necessary?

My son’s school is a peanut-free zone. It’s forced me to think beyond PB&Js and PB&Hs for his school lunches. I think he can handle going without peanut butter for lunch for five days of the week. Do I think making elementary schools peanut free is extreme? Well, I did. Like many other parents, I rolled my eyes at what I thought were over protective parents demanding everyone around their child avoid peanuts because of a silly allergy.
