Being the parent of a bulimic (a true story)

This heartfelt story was sent to me via email.  With the author’s permission, I’m reprinting it here in its entirety so everyone can see how devastating bulimia is to the sufferer and his/her family and friends.
I am the mother of an 24 year old daughter with an ED (1.bulimia..binge eating..and sometimes falls into the anorexic trap)…..she has been in recovery for at least 3 years…she has been under the influence of her ED for about 14 years give or take a day???

Questions from anorexics and bulimics

I’d like to develop a series of questions from anorexics and bulimics to people who have never had an eating disorder.  Then, I’ll invite non-ED folks to tell us a little bit about what it’s like on “the other side.”
To start, I would love to know the answer to questions such as these (again, they are directed at people without eating disorders):

Do you worry about food when you eat it?  Do you count how many times you chew?  Do you tell yourself, “I am only allowed to eat [x-number] of bites?”
