Bloggy Giveaway: Paw Clean Canine Footbath

January 26, 2009 by Heather R.

Why wash the whole dog when just the paws are dirty? Think of all the water saved!

Paw Clean Canine Footbath was developed as an affordable solution for dog owners to dunk, shake and clean their pooch’s paws in water before they come into the house or car after exercise. Salts of winter, fertilizers of summer, and general filth, mud, dirt and debris that litter our sidewalks and dog parks create an unsanitary predicament for families that share their lives with dogs. No more!

The comfortable and durable neoprene gasket welcomes the dirty paw into the wet environment, where the paw can be quickly swirled until the dirt and pollutants dissolve into the solution. Simple and genius! A paw cleaning routine enhances the health and well-being of your dog and your entire family.

The unit comes with:
-16″x16″ microfiber towel
-Spot’s Guarantee: 365 days from date of purchase

One lucky Food Bowl reader will get a Paw Clean Canine Footbath kit!

The Penthouse Potty

This “Penthouse Potty” is one of those things that you wonder how it didn’t get invented sooner. You basically put it out on your deck or patio if you live somewhere that makes it difficult to get your dog down to ground level for potty breaks.

While it makes sense I’m a little torn on it. I can understand the pain-in-the-rear aspect of having to walk your dog down a flight or several flights of stairs a few times a day for bathroom breaks, I don’t think I’d be looking forward to having to clean this thing either.

Do You Buy Holiday Gifts For Your Pets?

I admit it, I love the idea of buying things for my pets for the holidays but I don’t actually do it!

By the time I’ve bought for family and friends my poor head is drained and as cute as it would be to have the cats and dogs “unwrap” something with us on Christmas morning, it just doesn’t happen (I don’t think they mind too much anyway — isn’t that what the wrapping paper is for?).

This year I decided to put together a fun guide full of ideas for pets and their people. From treats and toys to books and calendars, you’ll be sure to find something for everyone — two-legged and four-legged! — without a whole lot of effort!

Review: PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer

I got a PediPaws pet nail trimmer to review recently and after seeing the commercials a while back I was pretty excited to try it out! I really think the method is a great alternative to the standard guillotine nail clippers we use.

pedpaw4.jpgThe PediPaw is a rotary nail grinder with a sandpaper disk enclosed within a housing that keeps the nail dust from flying everywhere. There’s a hole in the housing where you put your pet’s nail.

The instructions suggest several methods to get your pet used to the PediPaws before using it on them (it does make a whirring sound), but we found that ours seemed to be okay with it after just a minute of being around it.

These rotary pet nail filers are seriously some of the best pet gadgets to hit the market in years! I’ve got one to give away to one lucky winner!

PediPaws is a fast way to keep your pet’s nails trim rounded and smooth with no mess while avoiding pain often caused by traditional nail clippers. The secret is PediPaws’ prediction emery filing wheel that gently removes thin layers of nail to leave your pet’s paws touchably soft and your home safe from scratches. The unique protective cap allows only the perfect amount of nail to be removed and contains all of the filings so there’s no mess. The PediPaws has a built-in guide and a quiet high speed motor to gently file your pet’s nails.

PediPaws can be found at Petco, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart and PediPaws.com (site has sound).

Even the pet industry is capitalizing on the buzz surrounding the upcoming election! Meet Bark Obama and John McCanine, “Political Animals” chew toys from from Fat Cat Inc:

Bark Obama – Tell your mama, it’s Bark Obama! Ready for a friendly debate with your doggy, but tough enough for even a few, uh, nips at the heels; Bark’s just the ticket to change up your dog’s outlook on playtime and politics.

John McCanine – Seriously, folks…Go ahead and talk about THIS elephant in the room. Guaranteed to start some good ol’ fashioned doggy droolin’ debates, there’s no need to be conservative with this flyboy at playtime.

Please note that the candidates’ terms are limited, so dogs are going to want to vote for their favorites while Fat Cat keeps them on the campaign trail! For more information on Fat Cat, visit fatcatinc.com!

Have you all seen these amazing houses optimized for cat living in Japan? Apparently more and more couples in Japan are living without children, and instead are giving more attention to their pets.

Truth be told I would love to be able to do something like this, and with the stuff looking contemporary and as if it fits right into the decor it would be really easy to pull off! I wonder if my husband would notice?

Cat Livin Furniture For Every Decor

Cat Livin, a furniture company catering specifically to cats and their families, have recently been awarded 3 prestigious Editors’ Choice Awards from Cat Fancy magazine. I checked out the furniture and have to say I can see why!

ottoman.jpg My absolute favorite is the Cat Livin Cat Climber, pictured above, that attaches to any door inside your house. This is perfect for apartments, studios, bedrooms or any other place where space is at a premium. It’s really a fantastic idea.

There’s also a custom designed Cat Ottoman that fits into any room for your cat to hide within or perch on top. Both products are covered in high quality sisal, which is long lasting and holds up to sharp little claws and general use.

The collection also includes cat accessories like countertop cat gardens, graphic pattern mats and hand-crocheted blankets. They’re currently working on expanding their furniture line to include arm chairs and end tables!
