Did that title catch your attention? It certainly caught mine when it showed up in my inbox this week! Hot Guys and Baby Animals is a 2010 wall calendar complete with — you’ll never guess — hot guys holding baby animals!

The puppies featured in the calendar are rescues from several different groups such as Karma Rescue, Adopt-a-Chow, and PAL Rescue, and many of them are still available for adoption. A portion of the proceeds from the calendar will be donated to these rescue groups!

About the company, which is “created by women for women,” co-founder Audrey Khuner says: “I got sick of seeing pictures and calendars of bikini-clad girls sprawled out on sports cars. I wanted to make something that would appeal to women like me. So I decided to combine my two favorite things: sexy men and baby animals.”

The 12 month calendar features full color shots of some hunky guys posing with cuddly animals, and is even printed with soy-based inks on 30% post-consumer recycled paper.

The calendar, which would make a great gift, can be found at hotguysandbabyanimals.com, and can be purchased for $12.99 plus shipping (and you can even buy in bulk!).

I’ve been a fan of food blogs for many years. I had started my own recipe website about eight years ago, and when blogs hit the scene I switched over to that method of updating since it tended to be a little faster.

Over the years as I got busier and the kids got older, the time that I spent on my site diminished and I ended up closing it down. However, since it’s infinitely easier to read others’ contributions rather than make your own, I’ve never lost my love of reading others’ food blogs!

Finding food-related blogs and sites online has become easier with search engines becoming more advanced and site directories doing the work for you. Being able to dig deeper into specific categories is also nice, especially when you want to find sites about just vegetarian food, or desserts, or cooking for kids.

There are also some fun sites that provide more than just a listing, but rely on the images that users make when writing about food and recipes.

One of my favorites, Food Gawker, includes a small image along with a link and description to food bloggers’ submissions. I’ve had a bunch of my own images accepted, but I’ll be honest — I’ve had just as many images rejected! Other similar sites include TasteSpotting (much more difficult to get your stuff accepted there), and FoodPhotoBlog, which readily admits they’ll pretty much accept everything submitted.

What are your favorite ways of finding new and interesting food blogs and bloggers to follow?

That’s not to say that I’ve never been a ‘jealous’ type nor that there are some things that don’t make me jealous, but keeping tokens from previous relationships isn’t one of them.

As it turned out, my friend was disturbed that her partner still had old photos stuck in drawers along with a couple of greeting cards from an ex. The photos I could see hanging on to, memories can’t be replaced and that ex was only half of that memory. The greeting cards, to me, either needed to be put up where they weren’t so accessible or they needed to be tossed.

Are you a keeper? Ever dated a keeper? How did you or do you handle it?

Here’s the submitted question:

While reading one of my favorite advice columnists this morning, an interesting topic came up that I thought might be worthwhile to visit here on Dating Dames – just to get an all around perspective, of course.

Here’s the submitted question:

About a year ago I began a relationship that has really taken off. I’m mid-40s, she’s mid-30s. After a few months, the pictures displayed in her apartment of her with her ex started getting on my nerves. I understood these photos represented something in her life that brought her happiness, so I let it go. But finally I said it’d be nice if we could replace some with pictures of us, or anything besides what was there.

She seemed agreeable, but the pics remained. She said she was trying to print some of us that would fit the frames.

Fine, but it took several months. The pics finally came down, but now she’s got scrapbooks full of ex-boyfriend memorabilia all over the house we now share. Cards, letters, photos, etc. I know we all have pasts; I’ve let mine go, and would like to focus on the future. Am I off base for wanting the same from her? – K.H.

In my opinion…

I believe when two people begin seeing each other, that momentos of prior relationships should be stored in a place of safe keeping – but not destroyed. I feel that it has taken all the former relationships to create the person that’s in the current relationship and they shouldn’t be discounted.

There’s nothing wrong with a little reflection from time to time, but there is something wrong with keeping that person so directly in the face of the new love interest.

To me it’s just common sense and udder politeness to store such personal belongings away where the new love might not feel so challenged by them.

Falling back on that whole “signals” topic – such mementos could be sending out a wide variety of signals – many of which the person may not intend, but rather than having the new love try and decipher something that may or may not be there, it’s strongly recommended that you find a nice storage box and tuck them all away for safe keeping.

I’m very interested in the opinions of others.

How does it make you feel when a new flame keeps pictures of themselves and their ex out on display?

How do you think the topic should be handled?
