]]> Often art trends follow the current events of a country or the world. What topics are “hot” now that you can focus on?

  • Gardening, especially at the White House
  • Dogs/pets and the Portuguese water dog at the White House
  • Immigration and immigrants
  • Graduations
  • Weddings
  • Pirates
  • Taxes – I suppose I could do a page in my Page-a-Day Tea Book book on the recent TEA parties, protesting higher taxes, reminiscent of the Boston Tea Party of pre-Revolutionary War days.
  • Environmental topics

Have you made quilts for the football fans in your family?  What have you found for fabrics related to their favorite team?

I just scanned through some photos of fabrics with designs for the Pirates, Cowboys, Steelers, Patriots and Packers on them. 

 What have you found and how are you using these fabrics?  Do you have anything up on your blogs showing what Super Bowl related projects you’ve undertaken?

Have You Made a Quilt With a Pirate Theme?

]]> Someone brought to my attention that today, September 19, was International Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Pirates, pirate movies, pirate stories, pirate toys and games have become so popular in the past few years, since Pirates of the Caribbean was released, then numbers two and three.

                Have any of the children in your life wanted a quilt or wall hanging with a pirate theme?  Do you know of patterns for this type of fabric art?

It would be interesting to learn what you’ve come up with in a pirate or treasure trunk theme.  Perhaps the youngsters would like to help design something.
