Yesterday we looked at some general tree planting tips. Now we’ll take a look at some various tree shapes and where to plant them.
Pyramid shaped trees – These work well on the lawn along side the street but must be spaced widely apart if planting more than one or grass between the trees won’t get enough sun. Don’t plant pyramid shaped trees right near a window or it’ll end up blocking the view.

Fall is an excellent time of year to plant trees, but figuring out where to plant them is tricky. There’s a lot to consider such as the view you’d like from your home’s windows, the colors during various times of the year, height and width of the tree, and so on. Here are some general tips about where to plant your new trees this fall.

Books are just crammed full of paper aren’t they. Sadly, many of us can’t live without them, (self included), so what’s a tree hugger to do? It is a problem. You can buy recycled content books, but they’re few and far between (ahem, write your fave publisher and ask that they print on recycled content paper). So what’s your other option? All those green heads… they’re always saying, “Go plant a tree!” but no one really comes up, hands you a tree, and makes it easy do they? Well, good news it really is easy to plant trees where you live. The Arbor Day Foundation has all sorts of ways you can get involved and plant some trees AND you don’t even have to wait for Arbor Day.

My home stays so cool that I don’t have to turn the A/C on very often. Part of it is because it is a big, old house with thick walls. The other part is the trees.
