Destroyed and buried after Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, the&#160; nearby city of Pompeii on the coast of Italy near Naples, was swallowed and forgotten, and not to be rediscovered for almost 18 centuries.&#160;

<p>Today, it’s one of Italy’s most popular tourist sport.</p>
