Ellen, who is expecting her first child, has two beautiful toy poodles: Gigi above and a brown toy poodle named Valentino.
Toy poodles are very lively and active little dogs — Ellen and husband Chris Ivery will have their hands full in a few months!
MORE PICS of Ellen and Gigi under the cut!

One of the “most important issues” that President-elect Obama spoke about in today’s news conference was what kind of dog his family plans to get!
He said there are two major factors, the first being that daughter Malia is allergic and they’d need a so-called “hypoallergenic” dog, and the second being that they’d like to get a shelter dog. However, the two don’t usually mesh well together (you can’t usually get too specific about what dog you’d like from a shelter) so they’re still weighing options.

Joy Douglas is a salon owner in Boulder, Colorado. For the past four years she has been coloring her poodle Cici’s fur pink to help raise awareness for breast cancer. But she’s not using dye, claiming she gets the bright pink by using canned organic beet juice.
However, Boulder City is claiming this is a violation of a city code: “No person shall dye or color live fowl, rabbits, or any other animals” and after numerous warnings has issued a $1000 fine.

What do you think? I’m conflicted – I don’t think the dog is being hurt or forced to undergo any kind of traumatizing procedure (and I think it looks cute on her) and get the feeling that the law was probably aimed at abused wildlife, but then again if you’ve already gotten several warnings I think I’d be looking for a different way to express support for her cause.
