According to BD Diabetes:
“Doctors should not routinely give aspirin to people with diabetes to help guard against a heart attack or stroke, researchers conclude based on a study they conducted. While it was effective for those who had already developed heart disease or suffered a stroke, regular aspirin offered no benefit for patients with diabetes and a common circulatory problem, researchers said.”
However, if you’ve already had a stroke or heart disease, aspirin remains an effective treatment.

Man, diabetics have so many things to deal with. As if having the disease weren’t bad enough, they can also get complications. One of those complications is kidney disease.
A new study finds that eating fish may help prevent the kidney disease associated with diabetes, however. According to the survey, “Adults eating fish more than once a week had less protein in their urine and those who ate less fish had more protein in their urine.”
Less protein in the urine means the kidneys are doing okay.
If you’re looking for a great fish [...]
Post from: Blisstree

If you’re looking for a great fish recipe, I can personally recommend parmesan crusted tilapia. I buy the tilapia from Aldi, and there is a recipe right on the bag. Easy, good for you, and delicious!

According to a study published on the British Medical Journal website, the traditional Mediterranean diet provides as prevention for type 2 diabetes. This consists of a high intake of fiber and vegetable fat and a low intake of trans fatty acids. Just what does this entail?

The Mediterranean diet is rich in olive oil, grains, fruits, nuts, vegetables, and fish, but low in meat, dairy products and alcohol.

Olive oil is thought to be very key in this preventative diet. This makes me crave some fresh tomatoes with olive oil and toasted garlic. Yum….

Do you make sure to practice heart health? Do you care? Well, Mark Sisson from Mark’s Daily Apple has done another guest post for me over at A Hearty Life. He is a health junkie and self professed exercise freak!

If you’re recovering from a run-of-the-mill illness, like a cold or the flu, you’ve gotta hop right back on the horse (er, make that bike). Ironically, though colds and the flu are some of the more mild bodily injuries we can sustain – in that they’re so temporary – these are the health issues that derail exercise plans the most. Especially if you’re just getting into exercise or are trying to build a workout habit that was never there, a fever or a few days of aches and pains can send you right back to your old, unhealthy patterns.
