Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

Though it’s not a good idea to feed your dog the same things you’ll be eating with your Thanksgiving feast, there are a few things you can give them to share a little bit of the holidays.
These easy-to-make dog biscuits are made with canned pumpkin (make sure you’re not using the canned pumpkin pie mix!) and peanut butter for a tasty and healthy snack. They also smell pretty good while they’re baking!

Thanksgiving and the holidays are very exciting times but they also can be very stressful as you plan your menu. It can also be a daunting task if you or other family members/guests have dietary restraints. Have no fear because now there is a really great cookbook series that focuses on specific dietary needs. Today I’m focusing on the Complete Idiots Guide to Dairy-Free Eating.
We all know someone (or are someone) who cannot eat dairy whether it’s because of health reasons, weight reasons, or because they are Vegan or Vegetarian. There are plenty of options so don’t fret!

One of my favorite things about fall is the excuse to use pumpkin for pretty much anything. From muffins to cakes to breads and even cheesecake, you can add pumpkin to pretty much anything.
Whether you make this for dessert for Thanksgiving (a nice twist on traditional pumpkin pie) or even sooner for a Halloween party or other get-together, it’s sure to be a hit and may even convert those who don’t like pumpkin pie (I can’t even imagine!).

One of my favorite things about the changing seasons is dusting off recipes that are season-specific. This one for pumpkin cheesecake is one of my favorites (along with chocolate zucchini cake and pumpkin cookies!) and makes a great alternative to a regular pumpkin pie.
The recipe makes 16 servings and keeps well in the refrigerator for a few days, providing it even lasts that long! You could dress it up even more with a dollop of whipped cream or a light drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Fall Foods Are Full of Vitamin A

Fall is a great time to get your vitamin A. Many fall foods and flavors are loaded with vitamin A, so it’s a great time to make sure you’re including plenty of this powerful vitamin in your diet. Vitamin A is also known as beta carotene, and is great for your eyes, your skin and it’s loaded with antioxidant properties to neutralize free radicals in your body. Neutralizing free radicals can help prevent tissue and cellular damage, and keep you healthy.
Some of my favorite fall foods that are loaded with vitamin A include:

During the summer it seems like there are fresh in season fruits and vegetables everywhere to help you eat healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. When fall hits many of the fresh berries, and vegetables you’ve been eating all summer are on their way out of season, or already gone from your garden and local farmer’s markets.
When fall hits you should embrace it, and all the new healthy foods that come with it. Some yummy, healthy foods that are fresh and in season during the fall include:
winter squash like acorn, butternut, spaghetti, and buttercup.

How to Process a Pumpkin or Squash
July 16, 2009 by Heather R.

One of the first foods that come to mind when I think of fall are pumpkins or squash. The beautiful orange squashes are such a part of autumn that we use them to decorate, carve, and cook with. But instead of buying pumpkin from a can to make your pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread or pumpkin cookies, why not learn how to process your own from scratch?
Starting with a sharp knife, cut the pumpkin or butternut squash in half and lay them cut side down in a deep baking pan. You don’t need to take out the seeds or even the …read more
Happy Turkey Day Everyone!

I just wanted to wish the readers of Dating Dames who celebrate this particular holiday! [I know it's a bit late. Heehee.]
I’m quite curious, though. Do people schedule dates on this occasion? Or is the day just reserved for family and friends? And if you do go out on a date on this day, does it mean you’ll be meeting important people in his or her life?
Hmmm.
Well, anyway — enjoy the pumpkin and turkey! Happy Thanksgiving!
