Quilters – Blogging Question at Business Channel Challenge

 QuiltingAndPatchwork.com
Blogging has become an important part of many quilters’ lives, as well as numerous other people.  It keeps them in touch with others, lets them express themselves and their creativity, helps them promote a business, and makes them happy.
(Just take a look at the article, Blogging, How it can Expand Our Creative & Personal Growth, in the Jan./Feb. issue of Cloth Paper Scissors.)
The question, “Why do you blog?” has become the determining factor in the final (8th)week of the challenge at the b5 Business Channel.  The blogs have been narrowed down to four.  Home Biz Notes, where I co-blog with Yvonne …read more

Do Your Quilting E-mails Reflect Professionalism or Sloppiness?

Writing careless, unprofessional e-mails may turn off customers.  Or they may give customers, editors, and others the idea that you’re as sloppy with your quilt art as you are with your online writing.
Celine at Pimp Your Work has some good tips about writing e-mails in her post, 7 Ways to Make Your E-mails Unprofessional.  She writes sort of “tongue in cheek,” but has some very valid points to make.  I hope you aren’t practicing any of these!
Take time to use the proper English (or other language) you’ve hopefully learned in school and let readers know you care about accuracy, professionalism, …read more

Something Fun for Quilters

Do you need something light and fun and cheerful for your day?  It doesn’t have anything to do with quilting or fabric art, except that it might inspire you in designing.  However, sometimes we need something to give us an uplift and inspiration.
When I read Jennifer’s post, 32 Little Green Babies,  at Tree Hugging Family,  a new b5media blog, I thought I simply must share it.  Then I shared, in the comments section, about my family rescuing baby ducklings.  (That might make a duckling inspired wall hanging!)

Quilter Mary Emma Interviewed on Work From Home Momma

The blog, Work From Home Momma, features an interview about my experiences in home businesses over the past 40 years, including my quilting one, Mea’s Quilts, operated during the Bicentennial Years.  This interview, by Laura Spencer,  is the first in her Work at Home Interview Series about women, particularly moms.
As Laura says, “Today’s interview is with Mary Emma Allen, who began as a dressmaker [and quiltmaker] and eventually transitioned to the writing and blogging business.”
This was an enjoyable experience, and I feel honored that Laura selected me to begin her series.

Quilt Blogger Mary Emma Receives Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award

Laura Spencer, of  Writing Thoughts, recently awarded one of my other b5media blogs, Home Biz Notes, and me the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award!  For gals only, it’s fun to be included.  It’s also a neat way to recognize some of the other bloggers who leave comments, give me inspiration, and help make this blogging world a blast.
Since some of the gals who encourage me have already been nominated so I couldn’t include them.  As this award makes its way around the blogosphere, I can’t name everyone.  If anyone I mention doesn’t want to pursue this, that’s okay.  If I’ve missed someone …read more
