Chloe, at Tangled Thread, has been giving a tutorial on Fabric Covered Notebooks.  That link takes you to the fourth part of the tutorial.  However, scroll down Chloe’s post and you’ll find links to the former steps.
With a little imagination, you’ll be able to convert the plain fabric covering into a quilted or a mixed media cover.
