The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s “Quilt to Remember,” creating awareness of Alzheimer’s disease is on national tour. A very informative story about the quilt and it’s origin can be found at Alzheimer’s Weekly, “A Quilt to Remember” – National Tour, written by Peter Berger.
“The exhibit is made of large panels crafted by individuals, including some with dementia, and organizations across America.”
More than 350 individuals and organizations committed to contribute panels for this large scale quilt. It’s a tribute to those affected with Alzheimer’s, their caregivers and families.

It’s not too early to jot down 2007 quilt and fiber arts shows on your calendar. See if they fit in with your travels or days off from work. My daughter has at least two she likes to visit each year, so tries to find their dates a year ahead…or at least by the time she must enter vacation time and floating holidays at work.
Most of these shows are planned a year or two in advance in order to reserve the function hall or convention center, to get the workshop teachers and speakers they desire, and to enable exhibitors to plan …read more
Organizing a Fiber Art & Quilting Exhibit

Fiber art and quilting exhibits need not be large events coordinated by regional, statewide, or national organizations. Quilting groups of any size can display their work and share their art with friends and neighbors in their locality.
My daughter’s group, Fiber Explorers, consisting of six friends who work in diverse styles, will exhibit their work throughout October at a gallery in Campton, New Hampshire. They will hold a reception on opening evening, Oct. 3. (Of course, I’m excited about this event as I see my daughter developing her own style in the quilting and fiber art world.)

Does anyone have a favorite web site for finding current quilt show listings around the country…and the world? Also, what’s your favorite magazine with listings? It’s fun, when traveling, to plan your schedule so you have time to visit a quilt show.
One problem I discovered, when browsing for quilt shows online…many of the listings were out of date. There were some for 2005 and the first part of 2006. I had to search around the Internet to find current listings.
I did discover that Alex Anderson has a monthly calendar of listings on her site (www.alexandersonquilts.com); when I clicked on “quilt happenings” …read more
