New Poll on Quilting and Patchwork

I’ve created a new poll where readers can tell me why they do quilting and fabric art.
*To give as gifts
*To sell
*To display at galleries and shows
*Just for yourself and for fun
Many of you may quilt for a combination of these reasons.  Choose the one that’s primary for you.  However, you also can e-mail me (maryemma@b5media.com) to let me know more about your reasons for quilting and creating fabric art, and I’ll feature these in a future post.
I’d also like to interview quilters and fabric artists and discover what you’re doing in your quilting world.

Results of Poll About Quilting Fabrics

What type of fabric do you prefer for your quilting and fabric art, I asked my readers.
The choices were:
*Polyester/cotton blend
*100% cotton
*Silk, satin, brocades, metallics, etc.
*A combination of fabrics
Apparently quilters and fabric artists still generally prefer 100% cotton as they did during the fabric debate throughout the Bicentennial Years (1975-76+) when I became involved in quiltmaking as a business.  Seventy percent of my readers voted for the 100% cotton.
Thirty percent opted for a combination of fabrics, while no one voted for polyester/cotton blend or the silk, satin, brocades, and metallics.

New Poll at Quilting and Patchwork

I’ve posted a new poll on the blog (scroll down the right side) so you can let me know which fabric you prefer to use for your quilting and fabric art.  We have so many options available to us nowadays.
Question: Which type of fabric do you prefer for your quilting and fabric art?
The possible choices: Polyester/cotton blend; 100% cotton; silk, satin, brocade, metallics; a combination of fabrics.
There’s no right or wrong, simply the fabrics that each artist prefers to use.  Sometimes, too, we’ll find ourselves changing as we venture into new artistic avenues.

Results of Current Quilting and Patchwork Poll

The poll running for the past month on my blog concerned the type of patterns or designs you preferred.  It’s always interesting to see what my readers’ preferences are in these polls.  This enables me, hopefully, to bring you material of interest in the future and helps me get to know you better.
The question: Do you prefer sewing traditional quilting patterns over creating your own designs?
44% percent prefered the traditional patterns; 19% liked creating their own; 37% liked to do both, depending on the item they are creating.
It appears I have quilters/fabric artists of all interests visiting my blog.
Thank you for taking the …read more

Participate in a Quilters’ Poll

If you’d like to express your preference and participate in my quilters’ poll, scroll down the page to the poll on the right.  There you can tell me whether you like to do hand quilting over hand quilting.  Do you prefer both depending on the project?  Or do you like to tie your quilts to finish them?
I’ve done some of each, but some quilters like to do only one type to finish their quilted projects.
