Searching for Old Quilt Fabric

I carry with me an envelope containing pieces of old fabric from a quilt my mom and dad received as a wedding gift in 1934. If Mother ever told me who made it, I don’t recall now and wish I could. I think it was someone in her family.
The quilt contained many pieces and was hand stitched. Mother used it on the guest room bed. In later years it must have been used for “every day” because when I found it, after Mother became ill with Alzheimer’s, the quilt was tattered, worn, and torn. My daughter and I can salvage …read more
The World of 3-D Quilting

Have you heard about 3-D quilting projects and fabric sculptures? Some time ago, I’d learned about fabric bowls from information my daughter brought home from a quilting show. However, recently I learned about 3-D fabric sculptures and quilted art vases.
What a fascinating world quilting has become!
From Kaye Wood’s e-newsletter, I learned about Fran Morgan’s book, Quilted Art Vases and saw some photos of this work on Kaye’s web site (www.kayewood.com). “This book helps you break out of the conventional quilting way and look at it as a whole different art form,” is one description of Fran’s book.
