Bloggy Giveaways Carnival Comes Again to Quilting & Patchwork

 Do you need cheer?  Do you need uplifting?  Do you need simply to read some lovely stories?  The giveaway this month is just the answer.

It consists Heartwarmers of Spirit, an anthology concerning Triumphs over Life’s Challenges, edited by Azriela Jaffe. 

I have a story published in this book, “My Ray of Cheer on Dancing Tiptoe.” It concerns the cheer my granddaughter provided when I was in a body case, recovering from a broken back.  She became my little lifeline.

Giveaway – Heartwarmers of Spirit at Quilting & Patchwork

Your response to my giveaways (Bloggy Giveaway at Quilting & Patchwork , ends 8/1 and Another Giveaway at Quilting & Patchwork, ends 7/31) has been wonderful.  I’m pleased so many of you wanted to share your involvement with  quilting whether you are a quilter/fabric artist or simply appreciate quilts.

I enjoyed hearing about your quiltmaking, your quilting heritage, and the stories of heirloom quilts.  I plan to share some of those stories in posts so more people will get inspired about quilting.  What wonderful stories you’ve shared!

Thanks for Your Response to the Quilting Book Giveaways

I’m featuring a drawing/giveaway for a copy of my children’s anthology,Tales of Adventure & Discovery, described in the post, Mary Emma Allen Publishes a Children’s Anthology .It contains fun stories for youngsters, ages approximately 6-10.  I also illustrated the anthology. 

Quilt book authors may find ideas in it to use for a book project they’re considering publishing.  Parents and children like the stories. Teachers also use this book in their classroom, and I include it when giving author presentations and teaching writing workshops for children and adults.

Incidentally, the story, “Visiting Grandma Can Be Fun,” involves  Lisa making a quilt with her grandmother.

Drawing for Mary Emma Allen’s Children’s Anthology at Home Biz Notes

Perhaps you’re juggling your quilting with caring for an Alzheimer’s parent. Possibly you’re of the sandwich generation and have youngsters in the home, too.  So if you need inspiration and encouragment, Finding the Joy in Alzheimer’s, edited by Brenda Avadian, may help you find a bright spot midst frustration.

Incidentally, I have two stories in the book, based on caring for my mom and aunt who had Alzheimer’s. These aren’t quilting stories, but the two ladies involved played a role in my quilting life.

My mom encouraged me in my quilting and helped me begin my quilting business during the Bicentennial Years of 1975-76.  I remember Auntie quilting with my grandmother and including me in a quilting bee when they tied quilts.

Contest/Drawing for Alzheimer’s Book at Alzheimer’s Notes

 The drawing for the quilt booklet, How to Make a Quilt – 25 Easy Lessons for Beginners, resulted in Dina McNulty as the winner.  She mentioned Just Can’t Cut It by Pamela Mostek as her favorite book. 

There seemed to be some confusion about the rules, and a number of people didn’t leave the name of a favorite book.  Some didn’t have a book because they were just starting quilting or desired to. 

So I held a second drawing for another prize, utilizing the random drawing system again.  Susan Cahill won. The prize for this second drawing is a quilt pattern postcard in the form of a jigsaw puzzle.

Quilt Booklet Random Drawing Winner(s) Announced

The winner has been selected for the random drawing of the quilt booklet, How to Make a Quilt – 25 Easy Lessons for Beginners.

Because there seemed to be some confusion about directions, I held a second drawing, including the names of those who didn’t mention their favorite quilting book .  This prize will be a puzzle postcard with quilt design.

Random Drawing for The 3 Secret Pillars of Wealth at my Home Business Blog

Neglecting to check out rules carefully when you enter drawings and contests results in your entry being left out. 

In the current random drawing for Bonnie Leman’s booklet, I’ve asked those who comment to mention their favorite quilting or fabric art book.  This could be a magazine, too.  If you don’t possess any quilting books, see if you can find one you can name, possibly one you’d like to own someday.   This book also could be a novel or children’s book involving quilting.

Many have left wonderful comments and have given me insight into your quilting world and projects.  But you’ve neglected to mention any books.
