Last week I published a rape prevention tips email here on Blog Fabulous. I’ve since taken it down as it was discredited bysnopes.com .
Only seconds after I took it down I got an email from a reader asking me where it was. She said it had reminded her to turn off the usual rambling of her brain and be aware of her surroundings. She had found herself in a precarious situation that she probably wouldn’t have thought about had she not just read the rape prevention tips I posted.

Is anyone else wondering why Gwen Stefani is saying nothing about Akon simulating a rape on a 15-year-old girl during his opening act of her concert last month?
 
Akon has reportedly issued a statement saying a 15-year-old shouldn’t have been allowed in the club and he’s sorry.
 
I don’t think it would be much better if he had simulated a rape, a person held the girl down while Akon pretended to have sex with her, of a 35-year-old woman either. Nor do I think it would be fine if it was just objectifying a consenting woman just for his pleasure.

I can’t think of anything sadder, more shameful or more disturbing in our society than child abuse.
And even though Ms. Fanning is an actress and is “just playing a character”, in her upcoming movie Hounddog, if I were her mother or any other responsible adult involved with the film, would NOT have let her play that role.
This whole topic upsets me…but I thought it was important to bring up.
