Dating For A Daddy’s Girl

I reckon it’s quite common for women to admire the first and probably the most important man in their lives. They grew up with an admiration and love for this man they’ve known to be their father, protector and friend. This man, after all, gave them the foundation of who and what a man should be.
I do wonder about it, though.
I’m not one of them, you see. I was never the daddy’s girl. I wasn’t fortunate enough to have established a workable relationship with him. That’s why I can only speculate on how these women have turned out.

Proof that online personals do work

“Steve3366″ is proof that online personals do work.
Steve3366 — or Rep. Steve Rothman as he is known outside JDate.com — is scheduled to marry Jennifer Anne Beckenstein today after the two discovered each other on the online network for Jewish singles.
The ceremony, to be performed in Nyack, N.Y., will be followed by a small reception that includes Rothman’s two children and Beckenstein’s three daughters, a spokeswoman for Rothman said.
The 53-year-old Democrat from Fair Lawn was initially miffed when his online personal ad was the subject of news reports two years ago.  Continue reading How they became the Rothman bunch

One Fine Date

I just had to write about this date I had with a mid-twenty-ish Irish Brit who happens to look like Colin Farrell but to my brother-in-law, it’s Herschel Gibbs of South Africa’s Cricket Team. No, I’m not kidding. I met him a few months ago when he came up to me in Norwood and introduced himself and this date I’m referring to happened a couple of weeks after our first meeting.
He took me to Hindmarsh Stadium to watch a real Soccer match. It was so special since it was my first time to see one. Thinking about it makes me …read more

Dating for the Single Mom

I have friends who are single mothers. I listen to their stories about meeting one jerk after the next and I can’t begin to fathom the disappointment that they may feel about the whole love and dating concept.
It’s funny because as a single, I am having a hard time myself. I never fully understood their situation until I experienced taking care of a toddler. Believe me, I had to take my hat off to all single mothers. It’s a hard job!
A few of the things I realised are the difficulties they face each day. Juggling their career, household chores and …read more

The Right Moment

I was talking to a guy [who will remain anonymous] the other night about love and the right moment. It was full of fun, laughter and underlying concern for each other. [Quit thinking whatever that is your thinking -- it's nothing like that. Heh.]
Anyway, his main concern about the matter is his being uncertain about crushing on some girl, which causes him to feel torn between acting on it or not. It has its positive and negative sides to it, you see.
One thing I have to establish first is that in my country, there are still men who believe in …read more

The greatest love story I know…

This is my grandpa and grandma.
When I was very small I spent a great deal of time with them due to my older brother being so ill.
There were so many nights that I’d have my grandma brush my hair and tell me about the time when she and grandpa met.
Grandma was working in an old time fountain shop when a sailor walked in off the street one day. There was no conversation exchanged other than the typical, ordering, paying and leaving. When grandpa walked out the door my grandmother turned to her friend and said, “That’s the man I am going …read more

Frida’s Story

I attended a barbeque over at Aldinga Beach last year. That’s where I met Frida. She’s a Greek-Aussie, that’s an Australian with Greek origins, by the way. She looks forty-ish but is actually 60 years old, married to Blondieª a mother of 2 daughters and with 2 grandchildren. She was fascinating.
I was fortunate to be part of the group to whom she relayed her very cute love story.
Frida grew up in a very traditional Greek Family in Australia, which means they’re very conservative and strict. She had 4 other sisters and they weren’t allowed to go …read more

Speed Dating – Sasha Style

I’ll be honest, I’ve never tried one of those Speed Dating Events, though they look fun and interesting, it wasn’t something that had developed much interest during my dating career.
So when it comes to Speed Dating, I must live life vicariously through the experiences of others and what an experience it’s been.
Not only does Sasha take a leap and move to a new town, but she braves the wilds of dating and participates in a local event which she has kindly shared with us.
If you’re interested in exploring the option of Speed Dating, check out Sasha’s story. Granted, there …read more
