You know what I find fascinating?
The religious conservatives, by which I mean the specific people in my life, who have always been the biggest influences on my own Internal Mommy Wars are in full, unequivocal support of Sarah Palin and have no doubts that can be both an effective mother and vice president.

The Daily Story has an article about the First Mrs. John McCain, Carol.
Mrs. McCain #1 was a beauty queen when John married her, but when he returned home from the war, she was disfigured and had a shattered pelvis from a terrible and debilitating car accident. Sitting in the wheelchair caused her to gain a lot of weight.
When John McCain divorced his crippled, disfigured wife (after cheating on her a lot) 30 years ago, he married the New Mrs. McCain, Cindy, a beer heiress 18 years younger than himself one month later.
