Sorry for the lapse in posting. I’ve been feeling a little woozy (and sleepy and bloated and crampy) since my doctor decided to ramp up my estrogen intake. My lining measured a measly 6 mm on Monday – not quite what it needs to be for an optimum FET (frozen embryo transfer).
A thickness of 8 mm or more is preferred by most Reproductive Endocrinologists.

I won’t lie. I was disappointed, angry (at my body), sad. My nurse tried to cheer me up by pointing to the ultrasound and showing me how “beautiful” my uterus looks. So that’s been my consolation prize this week. Michael is getting a huge kick out of exclaiming, “oh my goodness, I’ve never seen such a beautiful uterus!” at random moments.

So, me and the girls will be traveling to the clinic again tomorrow morning for another ultrasound, which will hopefully reveal a beautiful and deliciously juicy ute.

In the meantime, I have some catching up to do, don’t I? Check back often as I try to cram(p) a week’s worth of fertile news into the next few days.

Earlier this week, Fertility Notes reader Brandi mentioned that she was beginning to take some Chinese herbs for fertility at the recommendation of her acupuncturist. I humbly admit this is an area I know nothing about.
It’s tough to find information online about Chinese herbs separate from places that want your business or companies trying to sell you their latest mixture.

My (very basic) understanding of Chinese herbs is that like most TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), it is a very individualized kind of thing. Meaning, the herbs I take in the combination in which I take them might not be the best combo for you. And vice versa.

My RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) is cool with my acupuncture but does wince a bit when I mention Chinese herbs. They ask that they be notified before I ingest anything that they haven’t prescribed, to be sure that it won’t negatively interact with the fertility medications that I am on. To be fair, this is the same request that they make with even over the counter drugs.

I know that some of my blogging pals have used TCM, including Chinese herbs, as they have tried to conceive. I am wondering how many of my readers have ventured into this area? Take Fertility Note’s latest poll and please, feel free to drop some knowledge about your experiences.
