St Patrick’s Day Lucky Steampunk by Asphalt Queen (Amanda)
Amanda uses vintage watch parts to “steampunk” her creations. I think the old watch parts tend to modernize the jewelry. In cases where a vintage watch face is shown, a different effect is achieved: retro and romantic.

Would you use the reel rocker for your place?

Most Unusual Felt Creations

Did you know that felt is the oldest form of fabric known to humans? It’s produced, not by weaving or knitting, but by matting or condensing fabric.
Since felt has been around so long, it’s not surprising that crafters have found some interesting ways to use it.
I picked out what I think are some of the most unusual felt creations anywhere. If you know of any that are even more odd, please leave a comment and tell us about them!

Etsy, the online shopping stop for handmade goods, was recently named in The Fast Company 50, which honors “the world’s most innovative companies.”
According to Fast Company, Etsy has 1.8 million members in 150 countries, and 2 million listings. Not shabby at all for a company that’s only been around since 2005.
Read the Fast Company interview with CEO Maria Thomas.
If you list on Etsy, how is your business?

Cyndi at Cooking Gadgets discovered junk artist Leuckit — just the kind of person who’d be featured here at Junk Creation. These upcycled kitchen robots are adorable.

If you’re dealing with dead Valentine’s Day flowers about right now, you may want to ask for something different next time. The sweet roses below are eco-friendly because they use existing materials – books, money and elephant poop! No pesticides required.
First up, paper roses made from odorless and sanitary elephant dung. They’re crafted in Thailand and for sale at Uncommon Goods.
Or, if you want something you can spend later, go for Money Roses from Paper Blooms. They use real money that’s still spendable.
For more traditional paper love, try Love Comes Naturally Romance Paper Roses from Anne Musing Designs. They’re made …read more

If I could plan my wedding today, I’d likely do several things differently. For one, I’d look for a cake topper that wasn’t mass-produced.
I love the charm of the handmade polymer clay toppers featured below. Many of these sellers also design custom toppers based on your needs. (Click the links to get to their shops.)

Upcycled Flatware Jewelry

Tempest in a Teapot, makers of recycled chimes, has a new line of jewelry that makes use of vintage flatware.
Their pieces are elegant, different from anything at the mall and eco-friendly too.
My favorite is this Vintage Silver Plate Fork Pendant made from the tine portion of a dinner fork.
But also charming is the upcycled creation below. The bead almost looks as if it’s going to fall from the fork’s “hands.”
Do you wear any upcycled jewelry?
